I wish all these “freedumb” fighters would move to a remote land and create their own Jonestown. At least they’d be out of our hair.
The tweets and replies on the G-Fest Twitter account starting March 9th have been entertaining: https://twitter.com/GFEST_GFAN
Was looking forward to some entertaining replies after reading this post before bed.. it's pretty funny stuff but I'm guessing this might be a fair chunk of this guy's income so of course he's doing whatever he can to keep his own hopes up. Sometimes you've got to be a little delusional to cope with these circumstances.. of course it's going to hit him hard when he has to eventually cancel it.
Dept. of the Killing of Time: Frankenstein variations, anyone? How about a coloring book? https://www.thequarantinecoloringbook.com/ Always wanted to learn how to cook like a cowboy? Etc.
I used to follow the Hong Kong situation a bit last year... was pretty interesting for a while there watching live footage and seeing how it was reported the next day. Seeing the shifts in narrative in a society that thrives on manipulating the truth was equally fascinating and irritating at once. Anyway to get to my point, I figured I would drop by the Hong Kong reddit today to see what the Covid19 situation is like seeing as they are so close to China. I'm kind of shocked to see no mention of Coronavirus in their reddit (not even a sticky) it's all about the 5 demands, protests etc. Now in a world where 'social-distancing' has become the 'new normal' (ugghh these new terms are lame) why are these guys going back to the protest game, gathering in public streets in groups of hundreds? I don't care for the politics - in my opinion both HK and China are acting like brats in that sense. I'm more concerned about the lack of awareness/respect/care in regards to this worldwide threat. Why are the citizens not practicing social-distancing - and more so why are the authorities not enforcing any kind of lockdown restrictions there?
I think people in general get lazy. Social distancing and wearing a mask all the time is like going to the gym or meditating daily and trying to eat healthy too. A lot of people lack the will power to make new habits through consistency and diligence. Since we started lock down in the states I have seen no family or friends. I go to the grocery store well covered and distant and I go for hikes alone in the mountains. I've seen people not put on their masks until they actually step into the grocery store and groups together hiking without masks. Even a pandemic can not make people use their power of reasoning any more than they did before. We need strong leadership. I think California and LA reps have been great but still someone always has to rock the boat and go for the plunge. Even before this I was always in wonder that our species has survived so long.
Sort of a delayed FU, but all the same, FU to the full ONE THIRD of people who have tested positive in the UK for the novel coronavirus, but refused to take part/give their details to aid in the track and trace system. Are you f'ing kidding me? You do realise there is a global pandemic on right now? FFS. Lorb forbid someone has your name and phone number to help save lives. I mean I can expect this from some ridiculous Trumpites but c'mon.
What’s funny (actually pretty fucking sad) is that people actually think contact tracing is some novel thing being tried out because of this virus. SMDH
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoaaaa. Whoa. "You people?" Ouch, harsh language there, D. * Incidentally, for what it is worth, Boris Johnson was never elected. Which only adds to my complete disillusionment with the system.
I'm fine with contact tracing done by humans. I don't see the contact tracing infrastructure and apps being rolled out for iOS and Android devices to produce any positive results. Instead I predict a mountain of bad data being produced that causes more problems than it solves. See https://www.schneier.com/blog/archives/2020/05/me_on_covad-19_.html
Thanks for sharing Deevis! The silhouette style is very interesting. I keep thinking of my linocut print class now...
My town is FINALLY on Phase 1B. (65 or older) We had a shortage of vaccines at one point, so it's great to see things moving along. Can't wait for the next part of the plan so my parents can get vaccinated. We can finally have takeout again for the first time in... a year. What I really am craving the most is McDonald's, especially the fountain Coke Zero. I'm not sure why, I guess it's just an oddly unique flavor?
Spring Break is here. I wonder if we’re going to see a spike from that? State mask mandates have been lifted but the college still requires masks. Honestly it’s probably a good thing to wear a mask in Ceramics, some people have been grinding sharp parts off of their pieces. Prob not a smart idea to breathe those particles in.
@hellointerloper I didn't know you were a fellow mudder! How cool! Just be sure to wear a mask or respirator when you are mixing grit, flux, and silica for glaze recipes, or else it can be like breathing in fine glass fibers into your lungs, depending on what you use to make your glazes
