Thanks! Cool that you're in Detroit too! I don't know anyone else into this stuff in our neighborhood
I like the showcases that have so many pieces with such vibrant colors, it really was a delight for the eyes.
All the crazy colors of ultraman/godzilla toys were one of the reasons I became interested in collecting these figures in the first place. I really liked how they didn't always seem to follow the original colors of the monsters in the movies and shows....The crazier the better!
I am totally agree with you, one of the factors that made me collect modern Sofubi is the variety of colors in the vinyl, most of them vibrant and striking, as most vintage figures did not have, which are usually more sober colors or used very similar color palettes, of course as in everything in life they have their exceptions like; the Hawaiian versions made by Bullmark and some figures made by Marusan in pastel colored vinyl, some bright green or even white vinyl with a beautiful paint job. But I would like to finish with your sentence; the crazier the better!
Thanks C E! I totally get that the color insanity isn't for everyone. I really enjoy the traditional colors too, but I'm just drawn to psychedelic acid-trip coloring. I will say that I usually don't like marbled vinyl though... I feel like in most cases the marbling ends up distracting from the details of the sculpting.
The shrine, presently: Pretty confident that the only thing I'll miss about the flat I'm currently stuck in will be the above wall nook. Grody Shogun, M1Go,BAndai,Gargamel,Bif Band Pow, Marmit, Funko???,Gnosis,Butanohana,Buta,Maxx,Bearmodel,Owl,Owltoy,Presspop,Press-Pop,Eiji Tsuburaya,Death-Ray,Woodring,Clowes,Kirby,Ditko,Otus,Yokai,Daiei,Toho,bootleg,etc SIDEBAR: If I force myself to post enough crappy cell phone snaps, hopefully it will shame me into finally replacing the battery for my 'real' camera.
Gorgeous shelves everyone!! Much pleasure to be had at seeing (and revisiting) these pics. @Temporal Marauder Lovely shelves, great diversity in toys and colours, a ton of fun. Appreciate seeing that sort of thing (as has been said, makes for a nice change). @Shiverbones Impressive, you just know I am loving that heavy Tsubu contingent [equally respecting that dash of Toho, too, of course] A mix of old 'n new as well? Love it. @toothaction Terrible alcove, David. I demand you strike down those toy immediately. Let me do you a favour and send you a box you can ship them off in. Blech. And is that a Trek Wars toy I see there? For shame. @nefasth, you need to talk some sense into the man.
DAMN! Gorgeous! You inspire me to want to diversify the sculpts in my collection and to collect more red figures.
I don’t know for sure unfortunately. It came from a Japanese blind box I found in a toy shop in taiwan years ago
i made plenty of poor moves in all the years of collecting buta toys but buying as many spacemen when possible was definitely a wise choice. Still looking two more
