I’ve been putting it off all day (dead horse and all), but did anybody click through and see just how nasty the collection in those Detolfs looks? Bad things. It’s a lotta bad things.

WHO is making all this garbage?? What scene is this? It’s sad their idea of cool toys has to overlap with mine (ours?). I guess to them it’s not even toys, maybe; just simply gore art? As if the only fountain of inspiration is gore flicks, violent video games and fast food. Not much to draw from, hence the monotonous barf aesthetic.

 

Burn it with a flamethrower. Then burn the remains.

 

Maybe there's a secret Facebook group, or a parallel soft vinyl board, where they just try to figure out the best way to trigger us, over here. Maybe all the multiple-hundred dollar customs sales are fake, and they just send the money back after the auction closes.

 

I think maybe it’s more like they’re totally oblivious to everything we love about this hobby, to the beauty of Japanese toys and the aesthetic they come from, and are blissful in their ignorance.
There is no sense of complimenting, of restraint, of the importance of negative space. Just “more, please”.
