@HardDragon Thanks a bunch, Eric! I love being able to visually express them in their packaging, header, dirty, beat up bags and all! It's a nice record of what they looked like before I tore them open in a frantic. @The Moog It's pretty goddamn amazing. Very subtle, but always effective. And, I forgot to mention, it glows.
@Cue great spider group, I think you have some of the first WF kumon in the back. It is always nice to see other spider collections and with such good specimens.
Thanks! One of these days I gotta get a real good photo of my collection I think I have about 30 of them Id love to know how many different ones are actually out there, I know there are some massive collections out there.
I know there are several hardcore collectors of Kumons here, it would be nice to make a thread with the rare specimens, I know there are several rare pieces in the wild.
Awesome group! @Cue to follow up being a kumon obsessed collector I can tell you that Dennis has pulled well over 130-150 different versions of kumon if not more. I can personally attest to haveing well over 85, Different version pass through or stay with me in my collection over the years through trading. Currently I have 65 with number 66 on its way and I have never picked up a double or a custom except the bwana spoons one I have that was blessed by Dennis himself to get done. I also don’t own a lot of the early painted versions as in my original quest I was not after those versions but now am going after them and I’m only missing 3 of the first 6 painted gems. In the recent years it’s super hard to calculate how many different variants he may have done because of how many non official customs are out and about but I would be confident in saying it was over 150. ( this does not include actual variants between marbled runs weather open or micro) then the number would be double or triple. Here is one of my favorite aquasitions so far this year and one of my favorite runs the Cosmic kumon micro run. I would love one from the opposite spectrum from the same run that was more of the dark blue with orange. This one though is amazing.
@HardDragon Yes difficult to tell for sure. I would venture more than that and i doubt even Dennis would have an accurate count at this point. When there were early painted releases there were sometimes blanks as well. Many shows had bunches of different 1 off marbles etc or extremely limited runs. The amount of variation still amazes me after nearly a decade of collecting them.
I finally managed to get a big guy... So worth the wait! Big, solid feeling toy that exceeds expectation!:
This guy is insane. It's so much glitter it's hard to get it accurately with my phone so I'll have to take better pics later: backlit flash: daylight:
@xSuicide Squadx Love that Kumon color Robert, when I see it my first think it's a vintage Marusan Goji. I'm not a fan of blank figures but this blue color looks gorgeous and with your photographic skills you really highlight the details of the sculpture.
Both of these look amazing. Love that gold. I just managed to grab a micros set in trade. One day I’ll find the kumon and have a complete set!
