Sho' yo' Butas for Lixx

I LOVE Tom Killion’s work. I had a chance to meet him and Gary Snyder during a reading for a collaboration book about the Sierras, back when I lived in the Bay Area.

That was 16 years ago... time flies.

 

I first spotted his work in the now defunct shop "The Nature Company", the original store (BEFORE the Discovery Channel bought the stores and ruined it forever!), had some beautiful original art work, and I saw a whole series of his hand-pulled and hand-water colored prints. They are wonderful (so much more when you're looking at the originals!). Being a poor senior high-schooler, I couldn't afford them at first. I save up all my change and dollars in college, and was able to buy my first print, and after I got a decent job, I started buying more work by him. He backpacks into all of the remote back country with his sketch book, and comes back to make the prints. I've met him several times at the Palo Alto Summer Art Fair, and also at his studio in Pt. Reyes. He is a super duper uber nice guy! He often grants gratis permission for wildlife and conservation organization to use his work when advertising a benefit. The web photos of his art just do NOT do his prints justice. You have to see his work in person.

Thanks to Lixx, I got Pipi (recycled Chamegon costume). Pochi/Getdata(Booska stuff), and Oxley (Booska in a dress), I got lucky snooping around YJA, and...thanks to Carlos I found Chibira-kun (the spirit of Booska). Suit actor, Haruyoshi Nakamura, played Booska and Chibira-kun (and Kanegon--who I am still searching for in preferably green). This score completed my search for this show and added a little nugget of soul to my collection. Thanks again, C.

OK, here are 2 collection shots of what remains of my buta. Killed the sale for now, folks are concentrating on DCON i guess. These are posted for you "count the deck" types who are paying attention to where things are and for all of you who wanted a "heads up" on next buta sale contents. Nothing definite for now, not hawking my wares, just an info thing. I think that the 'con is over on the 18th or something. Meantime, here are the ones that got away or are still lurking under the lily pads!

 

In the end I'll have a one shelf collection suitable for easy living senior care or whatever, so I will prolly always have one or both of the giganticuses ( i? or cusses? ) and it might be tough to part with Zazahn before xmas.

I was messaging someone who was interested in a particular dino, and I mentioned that you were extremely gracious with your pricing. Ebay prices are killer these days, not to mention JYA! @poysntixels and @copperhead , I'm really amazed at your sincere toy spirit, in passing on these treasures to fans that really care about the TOYS, and at a considerable sacrifice to your pocket books!
