Hello all! Glad to be here as I've been searching for a place that focuses on vinyl and they seem few and far between. My Instagram is reze11even and features 0 cat pictures or hot women so naturally there's not a ton of activity.
Hey all, Wanted to introduce myself, my name is Nick. Been collecting different things for awhile (funko, designer toys, art, sofubi) Buddy of mine told me about this site so I figured I should join, seems like a tight knit community that I want to be apartment of. I work for a video game company and located in CA. Currently looking for MVH DXs and instinctoys. Hope to meet and converse with you guys alot!
Welcome to the board @RezE11even and @BeEatNU. I suggest doing some background reading on the general rules of the forum, so you don't get tripped up right from the outset, and from then on there is plenty here in the library of SB to sift through and enjoy.
Hello All, I am Kylie from Sydney. I have been collecting different stuff like cards, afro ken plush, funko pops ect. The beginning of the year, a few of my friends including my young cousin started collecting Ron English stuff so I started browsing online and found the word "sofubi"! I was really confused about sofubi because there are so many different company and designers. I found the them interesting because most of them are not licensed toy like funko pops, instead they are designers toys. After a month of 'online study', I really fell in love with Dehara Yukinori figures as I think they really embraces a lot of Japanese culture elements! So now I mainly collect Dehara's sofubi and occasionally buying some other designers' toy like Dino from ziqi and Ummikko Monkey 3000 Koningu and recently also finding Butanohana kaiju are interesting. I know there are a lot more to explore and learn and thank you skullbrain for providing this platform for us to share the fun of collecting.
Welcome Kylie! Interesting to see so many people these days coming to sofubi from the more typical KR route. Glad you've already found a few niche lines that you really enjoy, SB is only going to offer up more on that front I am sure. As far as Butanohana goes, you've got your work cut out for you. An amazing selection of toys from a master craftsman in the art, but once which, unfortunately, is becoming more scarce to obtain for out of Japan folks (at least those without a gold vault in the basement). Best of luck on the various hunts, and enjoy the forum.
Hello everyone! I'm Nicky, and new to the boards! I'm a co-creator of Toy Pizza as well as the Knights of the Slice. I know a decent amount of people who use SB, so it was only a matter of time before I joined.
Hello all, I'm Jon. I've sat outside in the bushes and lurked thru the window that is Skullbrain for quite some time but due to my proficiency in the art of procrastination I'm only now creating a profile. I look forward to joining in on the shenanigans and tomfoolery
Hey all, I'm Patrick (IG: FatWaxPat) I've been slowly getting into this spectrum toys over the last couple years. I'm originally a record collector (nerd) and I guess I decided I really don't like having money and decided to start to collect even more stuff my girlfriend can roll her eyes at. I guess I'm still kinda dipping my toes, I mostly just like to follow and drool and attempt to grab stuff when I can.
Dude, I think all I have left are my laminates from the tour I did with them. I am gonna come get tattooed maybe around Designer Con in Nov, prepare to draw something dumb.
Hey guys, my name's Luke. I came from the world of funko pops and have gladly left it far behind in favor of sofubi. I've been to d-con the past 2 years and had a few konatsu and maxtoy minis, but 2018 was the first year I really started building a significant collection. I'm based in Los Angeles, and I unfortunately have to miss d-con this year (because it's the weekend of my wedding. If there's any acceptable reason that'd be it lol). But I typically attend all the sofubi related events and shows that I possibly can. I have a YouTube channel called Lukewarm Reviews where I mostly do movie reviews but also put out sofubi content like event recaps and reviews. Check it out if you want. A few of my favorite artists include tkom, siccaluna, konatsu, pushead, target earth, longneck, brandt peters, splurrt, and Paul Kaiju. Glad to be here and be over-sharing already!
Hiya, Luke! Good to have you. I'm sure we're all looking forward to seeing snaps of your growing collection.
Hello all, I'm Ken. I'm a SoCal transplant from the northeast and I've been collecting since November. I've always loved the idea of designer toys but I knew nothing about the world of sofubi. The old reddit-aroo took me from Luke Chueh and Kid Robot's Arcane Divination line to Scott Wilkowski and Nerviswr3k's resin toys to Japanese soft vinyl proper. I took the DCON plunge pretty much immediately and pretty much blind, hoping to score a bone usir. Obviously, I didn't but I still managed to haul in some pretty cool vinyl and hopefully not annoy too many people by having no idea what a toy lottery was and stuff like that. It was a huge eye opener and learning experience. While there's clearly a thriving ecosystem of ebay flippers and speculators, I figured that collectors are a relatively small, insulated community where people know each other and help one another out while supporting the artists they like and I'm all about that. At the moment, I'm mostly interested in Mutant Vinyl Hardcore, Splurrt, Shirahama, TKOM, Ill Synapse, and Paul Kaiju. And I think it would be a lot of fun and rewarding work to maybe one day design, sculpt, and paint toys of my own Looking forward to learning and growing with you all. Thanks for reading and happy vinyl hunting!
Hi, I’m Alex. This is the third time I’ve introduced myself but it’s been a few years since I posted. I worked for Super7 for about 8 years and now I own an ice cream shop. I enjoy booska, bemons and bangs. Hi to all my old friends here.
Well, no better reason. Welcome back, Alex! Where's your shop at? I am sure some folks here would not mind stopping by for some kaiju kones.
