I wish Mirock would show a little more of the sculpting in process on Instagram because it really is amazing at how much detail is captured. I have a few of his/hers/their older RxH collabs and they're angular approach to classic RxH characters is pretty great. Here's a couple of pics I pulled from my account: https://www.instagram.com/p/BR3dOp8h1in https://www.instagram.com/p/BIoZ0E2BWVW I'm having difficulties linking to IG and having the picture show right now...not sure why. Please click the link if you want to see. Sorry.
Extract the pic ID itself and place just that between IG tags: Code: Not https://www.instagram.com/p/BR3dOp8h1in/ but BR3dOp8h1in And not https://www.instagram.com/p/BIoZ0E2BWVW/ but BIoZ0E2BWVW Then: [INSTA]BR3dOp8h1in[/INSTA] [INSTA]BIoZ0E2BWVW[/INSTA] Presto! Both of these are so dope, but I especially love the busy sculpt on Dharmapala. Had to take a detail shot just to show a little of how much is gong on. Then JIZO beat me over the head and took a selfie with my phone.
Wooooo! Snagged the Jizo in this last lotto. My Mirock is coming through quite nice. @quentor I love your shelf. It is totally perfect. That Shikatti sure is gorgeous. I am basically exactly where you are except you have the bird like guy and I have a couple of his older smaller stuff that was sent to me from him messing up an order and this made up in spades. I dont have a lot of red so definitely looking forward to more color spectrum......and @Fedhai hell ya!!! That's amazing and I am very happy for you. I am just confused on one thing. I believed Shikatti was retired before Dharmapala was introduced.
Also I have the blank black first release of Dharmapala. I ordered the grey but got the black instead. That's why he sent me a couple dope smaller pieces to make up for it. One is a one off color. Anyway, if anyone, especially you customizers, have interest in him let me know. I need shelf space and I would love to see someone take on the challenge of painting a Mirock piece. It would be quite the project. So much detail. Anyway, let me know if anybody has interest.
Yes that's right, he made Shakatti 1 year before and reuse the Vampire Familly colorway on the Dharmapalla and the Last Doping Massive Attack recently. That's how I got my set. Now I pray for a Jizo in this colorway to !
Word. I figured that was probably it. I guess I missed that release. Your collection is gorgeous and amazing and the dedication you put into getting all of those is amazing and highly respected. I love Mirock so damn much.
Thanks for the compliment man, Mirock is a great painter but IMHO the most talented sculptor on the sofubi scene.
I haven't seen enough to have a solid point of reference yet, but I love my Dharmapala and JIZO. It says a lot that, even with tons of detailed paint work on both figures, there are still concealed blank parts of the sculpt where you could highlight even more for a one-off. That said, I'm leaning more towards more flowing sculpts these days and it would be dope to see Mirock tackle a more abstract form.
Mirocks toys are a little too busy for my taste, but I always study the shit out of the details. His sculpting skills are unreal.
Planet 3 Toys revealed pics yesterday of his upcoming toy , Kappa No Kami , which was sculpted by Mirock, and it shows! View this post on Instagram It’s nice to see what he can do on the more organic, much less geometric, side
^^I'll take that in the Vampire Family color scheme, please. Man, these more recent, larger sculpts are blowing my mind.
