His other toys aren't really for me but I really love this guy. Gives me Astro Boy vibes which is always a good thing. Would love to get one!
Yeah, this hits my pulp space adventure button. One of the things I enjoy immensely is his ability to go from these immensely intricate works to the softer cartoony imagery and sometimes to combine them in the same piece.
Rocket Boy is in someway a joint venture with Itoken Park. It is based off of the amazing work of Shigeru Sugiura! The dude was really incredible. Hopefully there are lots of releases because I want them all. Small thread derail...
I always liked the rxh mirock devilman with split head. Such a great toy. What's the other one called that has a split head and is holding a gun?
I agree with you. While I can appreciate the skill put into hos other sculpts- not just for me. This little fella on the other hand realy reminds me of everything fantastic about 60s anime and toys!
Mirock is a true master of his craft. His small, tight details are a real treat for those who likes that sort of thing. I happen to love it. His new full sized figure should be dropping soon. Its on the Grail list until it's blessing my shelves.
^ By far the most impressive paint job for this piece yet. I like the colors, but it also purposely brings out the sculpt's design. And these pieces have sooo many awesome details to go unnoticed. Is this a custom job, psilo?
Ahh, okay. I see the full set on the previous page. Congratulations, Psilo! I do recognize it now. Guess I've been so focused on the tank that I missed that part. That's definitely the version I most want. Now I need to go adjust my wants list to include the whole set and hope for Psilo's luck
100% agreed, the Mirock Devilman version is a great toy. I like how the highly detailed head sculpt contrasts with the more simplified body. Bryce, I believe the name of that figure is Kurama Spore. Kinda in the same boat as Psilo with Mirock stuff. Utterly impressed by his work and would love to dive in head first collecting more (only have the Devilman), but my focused collection leaves little room to go nuts chasing other toymakers' work at this juncture.
Very Nice, TC. Yeah, the Alloy set is my other favorite. Image pulled from Mirock Toy's Instagram. Where did you come across that VAG Alloy piece, TC? Very cool!
I thought something was off in the WIP pic of his newest upcoming figure (pic on first page of thread) Now i see it had no feet this is like a culmination of other previous Mirock toys, so damn cool!
Possibilities for mash-ups between his figures are becoming insane, I'm assuming that was not an accident.
He did an excellent job. I thought it was a Miroku 1off at first. Ha, no wonder you were selling the regular gacha set
Black vinyl strikes again.. so many blank releases recently in black vinyl. I've said it before and I'll say it again.. you can't see shit on black vinyl!! I guess that dark colour suits this figure a bit more than the Astro Mu - so many tiny details for highlights and shadows at least.
The feet remind me of the Statue of Liberty's feet in Ghostbusters 2... I wonder... This figure is incredible though. So much work into getting him just right. I'm definitely gonna have to hold out for a painted version though, one that enhances the detail. I don't think this sculpt fares well to being all black either, because it's a waist putting all of that detail in it if you can't see it a few feet away from being displayed... It is great for customizers though. My only real complaint is that he'd look better as a larger piece. I forget where I read what his size is, but isn't it something like just 6in? He should At Least be that of a full sized figure.
I am fascinated by it. Looks like a pissed off deity that has adapted some earthly alloy to contain itself....so it could come down here and slay the non believers. From the dragon head with the blade coming out on the left arm, to the rivets and writing on the right arm, to the traditional lion carving on the chest plate, the details are incredible. I hope your recollection of size is wrong, as I would agree that this would be more desireable as a larger piece, but it is called 'Dr. Mirock Massive Attack'.
