I was just thinking I wanted to watch the wire all over again since it's been so many years. Couldn't find it on any of the streaming services but HBO has it on demand or whatever it's called.
Turbo Kid is now up for anyone (like me) who hasn't seen it yet. Will be watching it as soon as possible.
Although it gets a little 'message' oriented at the end (not too subtle) and also overkills with the montage music also at the end. Dope is a great movie. If you love 90's hip hop like me, feel like laughing a lot, do yourself a favor and watch it. Slippery slope mother fucker....
Netflix price increase coming next month so if a couple bucks is enough for you to unsubscribe you should watch whatever you want before the month ends.
The comings and goings: http://www.avclub.com/article/heres-wha ... may-235736 I'll try to remember to post a similar link each month. Most anticipated by me? Maria Bamford's Lady Dynamite. Most mourned departure? 'Prolly Escape From Tomorrow or Election.
Thank God, We Are Still Here is finally gonna show up. I've been holding off renting that one on Amazon, but was giving up hope. Also, They Look Like People.
I've been watching this over the weekend and it's crazy good. Bamford totally holds the floor as the center of the show. It's also great seeing Ana Gasteyer. Her character is hilarious.
Ugghhh I kept seeing that previewed on Netflix as well^^^ Thought I'd switch up my Shameless binge marathon with Stranger Things but it's completely lame! Was so excited but the characters are poorly written and even though the homage to 80's films (especially Spielberg) is pretty good I feel like i'm watching a bad ET clone.
I dunno, I started watching it yesterday (Stranger Things) and I thought it was pretty good. I do love the complete 80's vibe too.
I know I sound like a debbie downer but the movie adds also blew this month. Looking forward to The Wave on July 27th though.
Watched four episodes of Stranger Things yesterday, and it's okay, but seems almost like something a kid would write after seeing ET, Firestarter, Poltergiest and any other number of Spielberg and Stephen King movies. And hasn't this stuff with electricity as the conduit for the creature been done to death? I'll finish it, but so far I'm underwhelmed.
I was looking forward to watching this as well (I don't actually have Netflix, so I'm not sure at what point it'll become available to me). A little disappointed that it sounds like it might be a little disappointing!
Mike Birbiglia is great, says me, and Netflix has three excellent windows into why and how --- Two stand-up / one-man show type jobbies: What I Should Have Said Was Nothing: Tales From My Secret Journal (200 My Girlfriend's Boyfriend (2013) and the first film that he co-wrote, directed and starred in: Sleepwalk With Me (2012) Worth your time, says me.
You can add a fourth. Couldn't figure out where I new him from, but he plays an executive that helps manage the prison on Orange is the New Black. It's pretty much a straight dramatic role. He's good, and his story takes a pretty interesting turn. Apparently, he's also a "regular contributor" to This American Life, which I don't listen to anymore, but at the time i was listening was just about the best thing on radio. His Wikipedia article links to all the stories he's done for them, so you might want to give some of those a listen. One's called The Fear of Sleep.
