Beautiful photos @Beantime! They capture the texture so well.

Gonna keep my usual gushing about details a little quieter to preserve some surprise for new owners. But there's a lot going on, hidden away in the whole package. One thing that strikes me is that the integration of different parts is really thoughtful. The arms, for example, are scarily thin at the joint, but that makes it feel more like a raggedy old toy that's just holding together. And you'll notice from the photos above that the anchor point for the bug arm's chain sits in the centre of a cluster of dots, like the middle-point of a star. Flashy toy that keeps the flash a bit hidden, blends it all in. Very happy to add it to the collection :)

    Thanks so much Tai!!

Wonderfully worded description as per usual on your side. Always enjoy hearing your thoughts and perspectives on things!

There really is a ton of little hidden details with these guys..

Would advise anyone who won Yankee to be careful with the paint on the nose. I noticed a small chip today and saw it on close inspection of my early photos as well, so I'm assuming it was fresh out of the bag. The nose paint seems to be a very thin coat. Luckily the paint and vinyl colours are both very light and blend a bit, so you won't notice easily in normal lighting.

Believe that dog is a 100% new sculpt. Saw some photos from people who bought at the show, and the proportions are different to Elly. Fur texture is more raised and blocky as well; the arms actually remind me of Kumon.

    Spotted on Yoiko's Instagram story.

Mega Man and Zero? There were a couple of other heads and a body in this style as well, but I didn't screencap them.

I saw this too, and was super excited. Can't wait to see them finished.

Seriously this is the coolest figure that I have ever seen.

    I love everything about it.

obviously the sculpt is charming but there is so much more.

    the bottom of the feet

    the numbers on his waist.

the cool mechanism on his back

the clear weapon part that goes on his fist.
the overall shape of the figure.
all the bonus that it comes with.

an extreme amount of love has gone into this figure.

This is modern Japanese sofubi at its best.

    It is a masterpiece.

@shincartoon are results out? Was crossing my fingers hard for that one. While I can see the sharp taper at the waist playing with the same proportions as vintage wrestlers (I'm seeing some Tiger Mask), it's a little sharp and chunky for me. Still entered for that back gimmick, of course

I'm also curious about that one in the background of the second photo--Yoiko has included variations in releases unannounced before, so could some of these have clear bodies? Most likely just a test of course.

@toothaction I entered that set exclusively for the minis; the boy is Yoiko himself!

On reflection yes; the jacket buttons and cap peak are giveaways. Didn't realise.

I mean, it is well made, and a lot of thought has gone into it ...

Sorry to be a downer. I saw it a few days ago on a Chinese guys feed and instantly thought of other 'Chinazi' toys. I didn't know it was by a Japanese maker.

@zindabad I am pretty sure the results are out. no luck for me:|

@The Moog you are right. I did not think of it at first but now that I look at the legs... this is definitely "have you looked at our caps recently" material. So after doing a little bit of googling it seems the Japanese army uniform was influenced by the nazi uniform.

For those of you who bought the Doraemon-looking drink guys, check the BBs inside. One of mine had a mix of hard plastic BBs and smaller painted foam balls. The foam balls will stick to the vinyl and leave paint stains, potentially messing up the internal paint in the head. I just separated them out and threw them away.

@Madmax405 came up with the neat trick of leaving a piece of paper over the head joint so the reduced number of BBs would still fill up the head. I will probably try to track down some smaller BBs to preserve the original look.

Was lucky enough to have had a one-off made for me of the M.F.S. figure, so much life and character in the sculpt.

I did end up going for the nazi-by-way-of-Megaman-X doll in the end, and struck lucky this time. This third release of Nounai Police (intracerebral police/brain police) was a pair of designs, this one on white vinyl with black paint, and another in what appears to be a very dark blue, black in normal light.

That second influence, Mega Man/Rockman X, is very important to me—me and my brother absolutely adored that series of games, and the character art really reflects the influence. See the trading cards included with this one, and you'll know what I'm talking about.

Part of me wishes the toy itself hewed closer to that aesthetic, but I don't think the result would make a very compelling sofubi doll. I would love to see that art become an action figure one day, though that's probably never happening.

As we've come to expect, there's great attention to detail here with a subtle sparkle in the vinyl, selective silver paint along buttons and seams, and a slightly darker gunmetal paint which I love on the left hand. Gimmicks-wise, there's a hatch on his back with a lenticular sticker that makes the image rotate a bit. It's a little loose but hey, this medium wasn't really meant for such mechanisms and it's neat to see them attempted.

Of course I had to pair him up with the Mega Man Elemax.
