Anybody got any good instrumental suggestions? Something like Tortoise/Dianogah/Six Parts Seven.. or even more electronic like a lowkey Ratatat?

Nice! Thanks @toothaction - I'd totally forgotten about Trans Am!

Any ideas for something a bit more chilled out? I should explain myself aa bit more - we have a new rule at work for music, "no lyrics" (lame, I know). I've been playing Six Parts Seven, Herbie Hancock, and Tortoise so far.. already getting tired of them. I need some more variety, but the more energetic Tortoise stuff is probably the limit to how far I could go without the older patrons at the art gallery complaining ;)

@badteethcomics - You know how you don't necessarily think of what you like to listen to as weird or abrasive until you start considering playing it for older gallery patrons? Heh.

Most of the first things I thought of go way out there, or, if seemingly appropriate, had one song with vocals or vocal samples in it... erg!

I'll keep thinking about it, but here are five potentially unhelpful selections to start you out:

    Fridge - Happiness

    Jack Rose - Kensington Blues

Miles Davis - In A Silent Way

Terry Riley - A Rainbow in Curved Air

Just grabbed this awesome collection the other day, and am happily going through the entire set. Though I already have most, if not all of NC (Zorn) material, this landed at a local record store in the used section, so I just had to snatch it up. Yummy

Been revisiting Cold As Life a lot lately.

And this new Line of Scrimmage is heavy as all get out. Especially lovin' the track "God Take".

Cold as Life? Nutty! They were getting their start when I was bartending and booking at a Detroit rawkclub, so I caught them when they were babies many a time, 313!

@toothaction That’s one of the THE coolest things I’ve seen anyone on this board mention about their life. Any stories about their shows? And did you know Rawn before his untimely death?

Been listening to the Rockabye Baby albums with my 3 month old son. For those that are unfamiliar, Rockabye Baby has released a bunch of albums that are lullaby renditions of popular bands’ music. They’ve done albums by The Cure, Bob Marley, Nirvana, The Smiths, David Bowie, The Pixies, The Police, Grateful Dead and many more. So far our favorite one is Radiohead..

IMO, this is one of the best punk albums ever produced.
They have done numerous shows lately, unfortunately they have been on the east and west coasts. Hoping they’ll do a US tour in the near future!
