I haven't been around in ages but I'd like to note that I heard someone call the "new sofubi" the Mc Farlane toys era. Hyper detailed grossly oversculpted, the new stuff is the Yngwie Malmsteen of Sofubi

Also... I really really hate to say this, but I don't like the new Tripus from MaxToy.
The front is wonderfully sculpted.

That stupid Mishka-esque eye is killing me.
Such a huge bummer for me because when I first saw it from the front, I really wanted one...

MaxToy said the sculptor was either Picopico or Takepico, I can't remember, but they apparently tried to model it after a Rat Fink-like eye.
I'm just seeing "KEEP WATCH".

 

Have to agree! I was thinking the exact same thing... Except I didn't really like it from the front either. I love the old fashioned tripus, but this baby tripus with the neck eye? Feck no. And yes it reminded me of mishka as well.

It's true! Those ol' bitties can't stay perky forever.

But yeah... that figure, Tit Tot has breasts AND a ding-dong.

 

Those hooters may be pretty gnarly, but that face is what REALLY hurts my eyes. Looks like somebody barbecued a Bobongo.

 

I have a few of these in hand, I have got to say the sculpting, molding, jointing and vinyl feel/quality is top notch.
Some of you I'm sure know the old Tripus was a cheaper Chinese leechy kind of vinyl, so this new one is 10 fold better in that regard.

Here's a pic of the recent "shifty toys" painted figures showing how the head turns, to make a whole different monster face.

I'm a fan, the look of the eye will really depend on the paint app IMO.

 

What sculpt don't you like? Everything seems like an opportunity to paint/ change it/pawn it off it as something new by changing the color/you don't like like..that's your problem yadda yadda yadda. Sculpt something chrisTOPHER and be original.

 

I stuck up for what 2 out of dozens in this thread? Are we not allowed if we feel compelled?

I really want to love that sculpt. I really do. I love everything about it. That eye is such a deal-breaker for me though.
After seeing Greg's douchebaggery here on SB from years prior, anything that reminds me of Mishka just gets a "blech" reaction from me. That eye is just waaaay too "Keep Watch"ish to not remind me of that assclown.

Just goes to show, your conduct reflects on your brand... and Mishka isn't getting a dime from me, just like Scumbags and Superstars can go suck a puckered cat anus.
