Untrue. It's just all those super bumpy/slimy/drippy baby head/cadaver face figures. Definitely don't want those on my shelves. I'll stick with kaiju and relatively anatomically correct figures.

Im not attacking what you like but im just saying there is allot of ppl who would see the toys you collect as being ugly and throw them in the trash without a second thought anatomically correct or not.

The Youzha I had was terrible quality (sculpting aside). There were thicker parts here and there, some parts felt like harder vinyl and others were super squishy, and some parts were opaque while others translucent :? and it wasn't supposed to be mixed parts. I think with consistency it could've passed for quality sofubi but it was like Kaerjun didn't even give a shit that it was garbage

This may be an unpopular sentiment, but it's my sentiment. The overall sculpt seems lumpy and without any defining features. Because of where the lower torso is joined to the torso, it looks either like mom jeans or FUPA

Aaaand now I can't unsee it.
Personally the mouth kind of bothers me, it doesn't seem anatomically correct to me somehow. I think the Bearsoman gets the open-mouth look spot-on... when you compare the two, you realize how awkward the mouth looks on this guy.

Here is one fugly ass toy. Image is small, but that's probably best for everyone's sake.

The most terrifying part of SstatusSkuo's entry above is that the photo shows the figure either holding or fused to a mini Glutamine!

It's a Kearjun x Monsterfoot Creations "Slaughter Shark" and it was resin before it was vinyl.
This figure isn't my cup of tea, but Monsterfoot is a cool dude. Confused as hell about that Glutamine being there though.

EDIT: Did some digging and found out that it's holding a Glutamine in a metal claw. Not actually fused with a Glutamine. I think it was just done for a photo.

nahh its a vinyl toy. collaboration between two artists. my only critique for the piece is the fur texture. not sure why a shark would have it instead of scales even.

God do I hate this toy. Most of the Kearjun stuff looks terrible IMO but this guy takes the cake.

I am not saying you are wrong, but this whole conversation just makes me reflect on how much this place (and the hobby) has changed.

All I can think is SkullBoob.

And @ultrakaiju - I'm surprised at how much the #sofubi tag has changed on Instagram. I used to check it daily, now on most days I don't bother. I'd say it's mostly a mix of Chinese and American vinyl now. Japanese makers aren't as "hype" and aren't being posted as often. :?

Kind of agree with this - although I don't think it's about Japanese makers not being posted/aren't hyped.. we all know that Japanese makers can stand on their own merits and are still represented on instagram. I think it's actually the other side of the coin where certain newish makers/customizers are flooding the #sofubi tag with too many posts. I can't even estimate how many gross paintjobs I've seen on two-headed PlanetxAsia/Vintage Vinyl Club figures I see when I check the #sofubi hashtag out.

And on a related note - I thought Superfestival was kind of picky when it came to who had spots at the show. Seems like the past couple of Superfestivals have featured tables selling overpriced, over-hyped, 3D-printed/sculpted fake kaiju toys..

Oh for sure, I don't know what it is about the new makers but they have a whole fan brigade reposting their photos for them.

Also, I hate this new trend of "mysterious makers." First Unoblab, and now this stupid quote from Soft Toy Hobby: "Elusive new soft vinyl producer Oltretomba release their debut figure in its second official painted colorway"

    Elusive... Ooo, such mystique.

Agreed on this guy, not only ugly but stupid as shit too. I loved 90s comic book designs but this feels like Rob Liefield is making fun of himself.

What did my apendix ever do to you? He's just trying to live a quiet life in Malibu now. Favorite activities include snorkeling and eating cats. Just some info for any ladies that might be interested. He's a cuddler.

I think I need a little bit of clarity here... is this an appendix, a snail, Jabba fused with a straw?
