Unbox Industries is doing what I believe to be Retroband's first sofubi piece called "MEAT" at DCON.

I saw it at MondoCon where I met Aaron and Dan. Very cool piece and I can see this doing well with the horror community.

This sculpt is amazing, the paint app used here is insane. Definitely on my list for Dcon

I agree. Such a mean looking design. Really looks like some kind of serial killer from an old horror flick. Also a big fan of how even though it's vinyl it doesn't look at all like he was trying to make a "kaiju" in any way. Nothing wrong with that but it's cool to see something so different. Plus he didn't go for that rough sculpt look that seems to be the norm these days either. It looks really clean. I want one.

Retroband is quite talented and it's nice seeing him do an original soft vinyl design. His first soft vinyl toy was 2000ADs Zombo (I'm still looking for the fcbd version).

And although the word is that they're indistinguishable, these are not actually sofubi, but are soft vinyl. Unbox does not produce sofubi. Just for informations sake.

EDIT: Zombo was designed by Retroband, but digitally sculpted by Unbox, so Meats will be his first vinyl toy that he sculpted too.

Sorry, my bad. I thought I just read it somewhere.

I'm sick of "horror" toys. There is rarely any originality in them. This here is an exemple.

I could have sworn I read it was digital ?

I thought I read it was sculpted by unbox digital as well. And it sure looks digital, that aside I really like it and want one. The cut off bandaged hand is nice.

Well executed for sure, but yeah . . . Pus bandages, Autopsy baby staples, NNN influence, various MVH leanings. All ends up looking kinda generic.

There aren't enough horror toys. Or at least good ones like this, MVH, Skinner and Unbox's JKM stuff. I really like this sculpt because it looks like the character could be in a direct-to-video Hills Have Eyes type horror movie.

Unless you're throwing ugly toys in the same bucket, of which yes, there are way too many.

definitley not digital. i have images of the original clay sculpt from some work that im doing. must have been a typo in whatever article. i think its smooth and honed in and shows a level of craftsmanship akin to gargamel sculpts, i really like this toy

    Quit lying, Michael! ;)

That is cool to know, Thanks bud.

Though really, I could care less how it's made as long as I like the final result. Not like digital design is any easier than molding analog by hand anyway, it's just different.

It's funny how some people see clean sculpts and immediately think digital. As if clean sculpts didn't exist before computers. Ha, on the flip side, I was actually humbled once by calling a toy traditionally done, to then be told it Was digital. Rough was just part of the design.

I find it interesting how polar opposite they are in that way; traditional sculpting starts off rough and with finesse you can get clean geometric lines, where as sculpting on a computer usually begins with a geometric platform and with finesse can appear handmade.

Not for my collection, but very, very well executed. Superb, thoughtful, balanced sculptural detailing. I feel like it's rare to see a toy come out the gate with such a well-suited paint app, too... usually takes a couplefew releases to get to an "AHA!" app. They hit the nail on the head with this one- beautiful colors and accents that work with the vinyl base perfectly.

I have noticed a lot of gross-out designs, but I really like this one. I don't feel like it's something i'd want more than one version of though. I do without a lot of what I like these days, but I really like this one.

Yeah, I read it was digital too. Not that it matters, because this thing is fucking superb. The paint is perfect so I'd be really interested to see if it still works in other colours.

Cant wait to see it in person. On the fence, i think its looks really clean but is it for me? We will see!

I actually like this one... mostly because it's clean and makes actual sense. Some people are releasing "horror" toys that don't look like they can walk, let alone stand. This one actually has anatomical knowledge put into it.

Not feeling it. Looks like every other zombie/horror/slasher/mutant/whatever sofubi that has already been done ages ago...

I'm really likin' this one, and its paint app. For me, it's very reminiscent of a Resident Evil character, or the Butcher from Silent Hill. Can't wait to see this big bastard in person later this month.

Now you got me curious about the size of this sucker. I hope its modest, im kinda sick of all these super expensive giant toys people are putting out now. Any know how big it is?
