Anyone recognise this sulky simian? I'm pretty sure he's Japanese.
5.5" high coin bank. No makers marks.

I think he's great. I was just curious if he's a licensed character or
    just a random cheesed-off looking monkey . . . .

Doggone Rei! You have been on some Giagsu tear. How did you ever manage to sweep that Popy one out from under me? Damn, I am slackin' on my game; but still glad he went to a good chap. Wondrous additions, all (even if I feels a few pangs of green creepin' in). Love your ape family.

Thanks Steve! I do love Gigas! I've had the Popy a few years now, but wouldn't mind some more 8)
However, I'm hoping my next Gigas will be a Buta!

The Buta is a very special one indeed (either version, really), and is one of the few toys I can see standing alongside my Popy Gigasu as an equal. I was intending (still am, really) on building an army of the KZ guys, in all of their variant glory, one day, but they have become fewer to find and pricier. I have had to shell out a [comparative] fair bit on occasion, so I am happy to have collected a few anyways. One day the simian army will grow once more ...one day...

Just love the Mego/Takara Kong man! He really strikes a perfect balance between the old classic monster toy stylings (e.g. 'Imperial') and Japanese sofubi toys. I love his arm poses and menacing face, and the little car he can grab and throw is just absolutely amazing (only thing more perfect would have been a plane). Great buy Rei, I think I am more jealous of your collection with each passing day!

Thanks! Indeed, when I realized it came with the little car, it made it even more special.
So many treasures, so little time (and money  )!
Goes for all of us, I guess 8)

It is definitely a fun surprise! :D

I agree with you, Rei. Thankfully you seem to have 'affordable' tastes for excellent toys, just like me, and go after what you love, so that makes each one very appreciated.
