The ears? Are you talking about the Demeru Kun? I thought those were just lines around the top of the head to emulate an open brain aesthetic? I can't really imagine any BxH toys having jagged lines, given their consistently smooth, rounded nature.

Yeah it's a brain. There are no ears.

@xSuicide Squadx @bryce_r I'm referring to the Mickey Kun. I'm not a fan of its ears. The wavy lines depicting the Demeru Kun's brain look fine and flow nicely.

Jagged ears on MIckey Kun would not look good at all...

When was MIckey Kun being discussed recently in this thread anyway?

I’ve been wondering if this was ever going to be a thing since I saw photos of the Skull Kun DX, the Screw Biter and standard clear. The last time I went to Three Tides Tattoo/Secret Base I saw one on Hiddy’s shelves, but I assumed it was a prototype/gift sort of thing. Glad to see it’s now officially a rebirthed run, and I’m hoping to get my hands on it!

Is it regular vinyl (like SB) instead of rotocasted one?
    Look really cool !!

It’s sofubi! I think maybe pulled in black vinyl, with white paints!

    damn, so nice!

The only reason I was put off by the kuns was the rotocasted dark ones looked bit different

@gatiio Also, the original rotocast versions have something of a weirdly tight arm placement. Like they’re hugging themselves. Plays nicely to the design, but I find myself having to pull the arms away from the body a bit when I pose them. The sofubi version is just...perfect.

I missed the chance at the first with the GID head and hand. I really hope I don’t lapse on when/where this one releases...8)

So extremely happy to have this figure. Immediately a favorite and one I hope never leaves my hands. I know the size has been posted before (29cm / 11.417in), but it’s not until it was in my hands that I truly appreciated the scale of it. HUGE! Now... to open the bag!

Here’s the backstory that I feel compelled to share...
The first release that BxH announced for this new figure was set for 7/18. I really like this design that Sketch and BxH brought to life. Hitting all of theses Universal Monsters in one figure and doing it well, perfect! Aptly calling the figure “Sketch Monster” was icing on the cake. Beautiful shine with a GID head and hand; Let’s goooo! Flash forward to taking an “L” because I thought I could score with an online order. When I missed out on that first release, I was bummed. Then I thought, hey I just saved ¥20,000 +tax and shipping/service fees. Later when I started looking for one on the aftermarket I was further disappointed in seeing them sell for $600+.

Enter the second release this past Sunday on 10/18. This one being a matte finish with muted green head and hand. I’m in!!! Seems that the lack of shine and glow however increased the price to ¥23,000 +tax. Whatever, I called in a favor to a friend in Japan and he happened to be up for the challenge. He showed up to BxH’s Tokyo location about an hour before they opened and found himself at the back of a line with around 20+ people in front of him, but was promptly issued a ticket. He was able to get the figure and noted a couple figures remained for the now multiple people that had filled in behind him without tickets. Not only did he do me this favor, he put the figure into the mail the same day! Four days later and it’s in my hands! Super long story short; Friends are a great thing and even in all the doom and gloom of 2020, a little light can peak through!

Did I mention this figure is HUGE?!

@FLTodd that's an excellent friend right there! Happy you won out in the end. I'm normally not a fan of mashup-type toys, but this is so well-executed it easily makes the list of exceptions.

I had my buddy in Sendai hit me up to let me know he was on standby, but I just didn’t have the funds for it in time. I do love this matte, so I’ll be on the lookout on the aftermarket way, way down the road. But I really am holdin’ out for a painted version!

@xSuicide Squadx Same here with a painted version. I’m imagining each monster part painted appropriately and it just being perfect.

@FLTodd If they keep in line with classic BxH themes a black and white paint could really set off a nice 1930’s black and white film vibe. Especially if they go the way of a matte finish on it, too.

I like this. I'm not usually a big BxH guy, but they did a nice job with the vintage monster look. Think I slightly prefer the glossy finish to the matte.

The new Kun looks great. Not sure what the colorway is referencing though (if anything)? Figured it would be Boo Berry based on the last two, but apparently not.
