    Hi everyone,

I've been on holiday in Japan (only a few days left unfortunately ) and was lucky enough to be going through Yokohama today so managed to take a very brief detour to the Marusan toy festival. I took some photos I thought you might like to see.

    Cheers

    Dave

Hey, Dave...thanks for sharing the photos. Very cool of you.

Is that a crystal Mecha-G with the "Coming Soon!!" sign?

And was this in a smaller, kind of intimate setting? For some reason though it would be much larger.

Brilliant, Dave!!! What great timing to be there to attend this event. :) We were just talking about the vintage contingent of this display, and I was ogling even just the photos of the toys endlessly; I can only imagine how hard it would have been to pry me away from the display cases had I been there in person. As a personal favourite, it was a great pleasure to me to see all the giant Godzilla variants, as well/especially as the vintage packaged Mechagodzillas. That standee of the big Marusan OG is something real special too.

Some additional photos care of US Toys' Hiroyuki, with a hat tip to @chimply.kaiju for originally sharing these:

Yeah it was a bit smaller than I thought it would be, it was in a conference room on the 2nd floor of the doll museum. It was split in half, one half for the talk with about 20 or so chairs the other with sales tables, split apart with the display shelves.

Being mid afternoon on the second day it was clear a lot of stuff had been sold, there was a mountain of used gachapon and big spaces where they had sold out of marble and glitter Hedorah figures. I did manage to pick up a few bits, will post some pics soon.

That Zinclon Mecha G kit is SO amazing. So is the mini base set I passed on as a kid. Doh.

A bagged giant Micras? Wow, even loose specimens are rare. I don't think I've seen so many Giant Godzillas in one place. Love the mint chip one. Thanks for posting the pics!

@djkemp - Dave, it's great that you were able to check it out, and thank you for sharing all the photos.

It does look like a crystal kaiju version, but without the opalescent ribbon inside.

@Paulkaiju - Do you know if the Zinclon set is the only way the mid-size Missile-Firing MechaG was sold by Bullmark? If so, they must have had multiple painted versions in those sets.

I am really enjoying all the photo sharing in this thread. Thank you to everyone contributing. So many Hawaiians, but that unpainted green giant goji is my pick of all the prizes.

@ultrakaiju It really was difficult to walk away from, i had very limited time between trains but it was definitely worth the trip, great stuff to see in the flesh.

Looking at the pictures @chimply.kaiju posted they must have been taken first thing Sunday as when I got there early afternoon I think there was only 2 mini sets left and a few Godzilla 50. I've already seen the mini set for sale at Shibuya Mandarake this morning!

Yes. They are standard size. They are not exclusive to the Marusan Festival. They will also be available at this months Super Fest on June 30, 2019.

Some more photos on the first day of the event from U.S. Toys.

@deafmetal, the Zinclon kit is a disassembled version of the die-cast toy. Comes with a little screwdriver. Very rare.

My mistake, I was referring to set of small figures on the right in this photo:
