    I'm afraid this means they'll have to introduce ads to explain that expense to their stockholders... :(

    (and I hope it means they'll actually make the Instagram Facebook app work!)

    I'm really ignorant to how this stuff works;
    Instagram isn't a paid app.
    It doesn't display ads.
    How is it worth a billion dollars?
    I'm honestly curious and I'm sure that there's something I'm just not factoring in.

    Facebook saw them as a threat, another potential program to pull people away from sharing photos on facebook. Anything that can steal eyes has to go. So instead of fighting them, they buy them and be done with it.

    Honesty this is annoying, facebook and their all seeing eye is getting out of control.

    Any app that post your evey move without you knowing creeps me out.

    You read an article on some news site, and bam it's posted to your wall for everyone to know what you read, when you read it , where you read , on what device, then tries to get others to become part of it.

    And so ends instagram for me....I refuse to allow anything even slightly connected to facebook into my life. Just deleted my account.

    I understand where you're coming from, but now that Facebook is a public company with multiple owners, how do you keep track of who's actually connected to facebook?

    Oh and Facebook started as an ad-free, no-profit company. That's how things go, right? You build a big enough user database and then you bring in the ads.

    I use to embrace the internet and use every new site or app that came along. I use to have a pretty outspoken blog. As net became more an more invasive and I got older, I find myself withdrawing from it more an more. I mean obviously I'm here a lot but I'm trying to limit my internet presence. The less that comes up in searches the better for my privacy. I also hate being marketed to. If I could just find a way to work around this whole Google/Safari thing (I don't like Firefox or Chrome) I'd be on cloud 9. It says I'm opted out but I don't believe it.

    Hahaha, that's harsh but I understand your point.
    No good can come out of this.

    Let's start a FB page asking that they bring back the old Instagram filters back

    Wow facebook is that invasive? I knew there was a reason my brain said delete and stay away forever (I briefly had an account for just 6 months in 2009 I think?).

    That's my point exactly though. I don't want anyone knowing what I'm doing, where I'm doing it, and who with 24-7. Decades ago when EZ pass started my first thought was great, now the powers that be will be able to track you wherever you go and probably issue you speeding tickets if they deem you got from a to b within a certain timeframe. It was just the tip of the iceberg. People are so passive with technology though, very few people see the bigger picture and just get hooked on social media or the convenience factor. Recently read that a lot of local and state agencies are going to be budgeting for droid technology, putting eyes in the sky going everywhere. Wired recently ran an article on NSA's National Surveillance Center being built in Utah. My g/f always argues with me that why am I so concerned if I'm not doing anything wrong, but I just see it as incredibly invasive and information on me is for me, not whoever wants to market to me, or monitor what I'm saying. The less people know about your quirks the better I say. I really don't have anything to hide, I just do like people snooping.
