It's really a no-win situation in the court of public opinion for uber-popular makers like Hirota though....

Make the run numbers high and too easily available, and no one gives a shit about the toys anymore. Sad but just human nature.

Keep run numbers low and try to restrict sales to folks whom the maker thinks are serious fans, and everyone cries exclusivity.

 

IF anyone here is lucky enough to be chosen, please tell us the price. I think a lot of us would like to know if HS has decided to increase his retail price. Thanks.

 

hmmm... does width of pocket roll correspond to level of fandom? Isn't there a more equitable way of giving all fans a chance at the toy? Fwiw, just an outside observation, since I don't collect HxS.

If we are playing the quote game, here's a few that are relevant:

"Prices need to be fair, appropriate and consistent." - that seems to be thrown out the window!

"Sex is like art. Most of it is pretty bad, and the good stuff is out of your price range." - gonna be a dry spell for a lot of us

"An artist's work is always about integrity and reputation... NEVER reduce your prices, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER!" - this new phase in pricing is dangerous. However, Anraku proved this theory to be wrong with Medicom releases... or did he? Is his stuff as coveted now?

 

Good points of course! I love the fact that Anraku made his toys more accessible, and for that reason, I can adopt them, and like them a lot. My only gripe is that some of the colors can be garish, but the clear versions have been great! It's also a good testimony (and a test) to the "art" of the toy, if it stands up to a general release, and you're not buying it exclusively, because it's a status symbol. Toys are suppose to be F-U-N, and my collection, reflects the fun and whimsy of the toy. Also, I appreciate toy makers who release their toy at a reasonable price level, despite the fact that he/she knows that there is a good chance that the toys may climb very high in the after market (i.e. mind blowing buta prices on jya, recently!). At least this gives some of us a fighting chance of buying a toy.

 

What is up with all the repost B.S. on IG? Do people honestly think they are going to curry favor with a maker by taking 30 seconds to repost said maker's image?
