The quorum met, and the higher-ups decided that a two-strikes policy was in order here. For what it's worth: The offending party was warned via the somewhat meaningless 'warning point' system in our platform, accompanied by a letter from me addressing the offense, with a clear statement that anything else coming from the member that could be deemed in any way inappropriate would result in immediate expulsion from our ranks. Hopefully those steps will be considered sufficient by some of you, and for those that would have liked us to take it further, sooner, I encourage you to bring your concerns to the higher-ups on the board, namely, James, Josh or Brian . I'm happy to talk over any concerns via PM as well.

FWIW II: The initial lockdown of this thread involved separate (but related, obviously) concerns, and was entirely my doing. Again, please feel free to send barbs and rose tops alike to my bulbous inbox.

You know, you might get more milage with your poor me, my problems are real crusade if you didn't pepper it with both mountains of presumptive, condescending intolerance of your own, and repeated declarations of how you don't care what other people think. If you jump to the worst possible interpretation of what people have said (including, but not limited to, attacking your defenders (!!!)), and refuse to be open to those that you claim aren't open to you, all you will achieve, ultimately, is a greater sense of loneliness and a falsely earned, self-generated bolstering of the isolation you clearly already feel.

The very least of what I consider to be your ill behavior in this community is your misspelling of a slur - f*gott? Should have two gs and one t... sigh. No, I'm not condoning the use, but I'm from a generation whose schoolyard set regularly called things gay and retarded, tossed out there as a casual dismissive, not a bullet of hate. We learned, eventually, what a shitty and harmful way to communicate that was. In my years here at SB I've encountered people who used terms that are considered flatly offensive in the modern world, but, in discussion with them, I learned that they didn't know any better, and they learned what such words mean now, and why they mean it, outside of their exposure to them. That said, I'm not excusing you - I believe that you meant what you said and understood the full implications - but it was of a piece with your sad tirades against anyone that would dare to, or dare not to, pay attention to you.

I could be wrong, but you strike me as a genuine, creative and curious individual. It makes me very sad that you can't help but alienate the few that would be open to your interests and passions. We're a good group here, and we like some weird, deeply peripheral shit. Many of us, whether you believe it or care, have known incredible problems and pain. A good part of what keeps us coming back to this niche of a niche on the superhighway is that it's an oasis. From what? That's for each of us to list and tally on our own.
