Haha, yeah it was great. I had one of the PVC figures when I was little. They're kinda expensive these days so I gave up on them and just focused on these.

Vintage 1950's soft vinyl 'Night Light'. It should actually be called 'Hollow plastic, that even if you fit a low wattage bulb, will be on the verge of melting and a serious fire hazard'. All the Combex night lights are like this and i'm amazed they got away with selling them!

Still, its pretty cool just as a toy. About 7" high.

I think this thread is supposed to be vintage stuff, but who cares. They are great.

I found a coin bank at a vintage market, which is a bit bigger than the usual ones i have in this cute style. By a company called Tatung Co., which is a Taiwanese company. I'm not sure if this is a Japanese coin bank or not, possibly from their branch in Japan. It certainly looks like a lot of Japanese coin banks i've seen.

I’m pretty sure it’s a Taiwanese thing. I found some in a shop in Taiwan but they refused to sell any of the ones on display, saying they were vintage. There’s a second photo with more mascots at that store.

I found this one a few years ago at Value Village, a thrift store chain in Canada, for $2.
Odd that each one has a different number molded in and not just painted on.
There must be quite a few variations.

Seen these before in Japan but I don't know if they were given out here.

Looking on google, the number is apparently the number of years since the company was founded [1918]

    All very interesting, thanks!
I also saw a few ceramic versions when I was looking it up as well.

Had been looking at the 1st one for a while, but when I found the 2nd variation elsewhere in the same antique mall, I had to have the pair. The 2nd is about half the size of the 1st.

    I guess it's true . . . everything's been done before!

I'll take one if you ever get chance of another!

Totally. I would of bought them too. It's interesting how the bottom one's nose and mouth are slightly off-centre. Do they have maker's marks? They are great.

A trade would be possible if you have anything interesting mate, i know how much you love lemons.

Here's my latest Combex squeaker. Vintage Huckleberry Hound (with hole drilled in the top of his hat, for conversion to toothbrush holder). Only 99p on ebay but the seller took about 3 weeks to post him. I'm guessing 1960's on this one, made in England.

Shifted my mini sofubi cases around a bit and thought I'd take pics... A little bit of PVC figures and other random stuff in there too.
Focusing more on smaller stuff these days as I actually have some hope of displaying a fair amount of it

Wonderful collection, thanks for sharing. I've never seen that version of Hyakume before!

I'm sure I'll be back to look at these photos multiple times

Haha, thanks man, glad you enjoy looking at them. Your enthusiasm for All Toys Great and Small is always appreciated!
There's a Mephisto Jr to go with that Hyakume and Akuma-kun as well, but I haven't seen one for the right price yet...

I always assumed there was only an Akuma-kun in that size (compared to the slightly larger similar looking Bandai versions). I have one boxed and one loose, the boxed one comes with some little keshi figures.

Fantastic collection! Thanks for sharing the pics. Any chance at a pic of the whole set-up? I'd love to see what the whole case looks like from further back.

Cuteness overload! Really amazing collection @kappa, thanks for sharing. So much goodness and many classic characters in there.

Particularly loving the Dragon Quest + Nintendo stuff, although it's hard to pick favorites!

It's three cases stuck together, x3... Tempting to add another three but I don't want to risk angering the earthquake gods any further.

Thanks man. Still missing a lot of the DQ ones but I've got most of the human characters. The little Torneko is one of my favourites :D

The larger Bandai ones with the GID eyes are definitely a lot more common. Confusingly there's a third Akuma-kun that also comes in a box with keshi... Had half-forgotten about it but now I really want to find that Mephisto!

Here's the booty marks, @The Moog ! Can't quite make out the smaller one's country of origin, it's either "Japan" or "Taiwan"...

Yeah, looks like Taiwan to me. The base has all the hallmarks of a KO too. Very interesting, thanks! I dont recognise the Japanese stamp.

Another vintage Combex squeaker for my collection. He's a rare one and is just over 6" high, so quite chunky.
    I love him :o
