Is this on here already? I carved an awesome pumpkin and it collapsed before i finished... Im sure some people on here have some good ones. So post your spooky stuff!
Okay, so confession time. If I haven't already expressed it here somewhere (which I no doubt have), Halloween has always been a major part of my life, and in fact my favourite 'holiday' of the year. There are probably numerous reasons for it, which I won't get into here, but anyways, I love it. And of course, a major component of that is the annual pumpkin carving. There have been a few years (whilst in Japan for instance) where I have simply been unable to do so, for lack of a pumpkin or some other major reason, but by and large it is something that I mark annually, and every year is special. I would never forego it by choice, and it is something simple, but which gives me great pleasure. Anyhow, moving along, let's get the sharing started here. Happy Halloween Skullbrainers!!! Spoiler: Close-up of my contribution Could have been better with some proper tools, but considering it was all freehand, I am fairly satisfied with the result. Come on SB, shows us your gourds.
Wow Steve, great carving on the Mazinger. Got me beat. A slight miss cut on the other eye caused it to fall apart.
I'd love to take credit, my chimply friend, but methinks yr thinking of Steve! Fun work yrself! I'm ashamed to admit that my pumpkins ended up keeping their hides intact this year.
@AgentRavage - Nice job Jo. Love the Hello Kitty your sis did. @Alebrije - Love the picture Roger. Very spooky!
Crazy work guys! I am loving all of these submissions. I ought to post a few of my others too (as I said, I have a back-catalogue of every annual entry probably, going back to the 'hardcopy' photo days). Excellent work one and all! I look forward to seeing more ghoulish gourds next year.
Happy Halloween everyone! Hoping it is a spooktacular one for you all, filled with gruesome monsters, b-club critters, bumps in the night, and general treats (and tricks). Just managed to squeeze carving this guy into a busy schedule this week. My 2018 contribution. Didn't quite come out as planned, but I freeballed it. and unfortunately it's scrolling width makes it impossible to capture in a photo - but I hope you get the idea.
Part II: This time, appreciating the noble sacrifice this pumpkin has given, to yield upon me such wondrous, tasty goodness. I may not have a sack full of candy, but it just wouldn't be Halloween without over-indulging on some delicious snacks! ^^^ Great pumpkin, and tasty snacks! Don't forget... https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/food-network-kitchen/classic-pumpkin-pie-recipe-2043514 or https://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/pumpkin-pie-102601 I always add more cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla (real vanilla!) than the recipe calls for *p.s. some people even add diced candied ginger to the pumpkin custard recipe!
Our pumpkins were paper ones filled with dog and kitty treats that my wife delivered to our neighbors; she does it every year. Here's a quick and cheesy shot we made to celebrate online: Happy Samhain, Halloween, and tomorrow, Dia de los Muertos to all of you!
Spent too long setting up the shot we didn't have time to carve the pumpkin... Bonus Karloff Phantom painting for good measure. Happy Halloween all!
Okay ghouls and goblins, I know the day has now passed, but if you're forgive me the indulgence for a related post. With the marking of Día de los Muertos we officially sign off on another year, and, saying farewell to our pumpkins leads us to one final gift that they bestow upon us. Farewell October, you were with us all too short a time! View this post on Instagram Did I mention I love pumpkin??
Happy Halloween Skullbrain! Spoiler: One more pic A bit sharper, sans glow. Bonus no-prize to anyone who can recognise the particular inspiration for this year's entry.
^ Another winner, sir, and another year of activated shame from the reminder that I haven't mutilated any winter squash in ages.
No Jack o'Lanterns for me this year. All my gourds are going into pies. I did get a toy that kinda looks like a Jack o', though.
