So happy with season 11 of TPBs. I didn't think i would ever see new episodes again. I agree with above @Nate, Iron Fist just didn't do it for me. Really had to force myself to watch that. Gotta say i have been watching Bill Nye Saves the World too. Love that guy. The show is kinda cheese though. But great. Did any of you watch Crashing on HBO? It was pretty funny.
@Nuggets303420 Ha TPB can be kinda accurate for us Canadians, the first seasons were a phenomenon for stoners up here. I'm surprised at it's success in the US. I remind you though we aren't all Ricky's up here lol. Heads up. There is a Tracy Morgan special coming out on Netflix. There's some great sci-fi on netflix too like Dark Matter. It has a 'Firefly' vibe to the show. Sense8 is back this week. Master of none Season 2 is hilarious if you enjoy Aziz Ansari also back. And The Last Kingdom second season is really good.
Totally stoked for more of The Last Kingdom. After the BBC let the series go, Netflix picked it up and I'm really glad they did! Also excited for more Vikings! WOO!
@MisterYuck wow I didn't know Netflix saved the show. Hooray for Netflix. I knew the story of Utrid son of Utrid was not over lol. I crack up in the opening credits when he says that everytime.
Hahaha! @decypher I in no way think or thought you were all Rickys up there. Even though that would be awesome. I know you guys are all more like Bubbles, duh. Haha. No. I know Canucks are great prosperous folks. I honestly rather wished i lived up there instead right now. We have an Orange Sludge Monster problem down here that i am sure you are aware of.
Netflix has been killing it. They picked up The Last Kingdom. The picked up Lucha Underground....they've been picking up series left and right. Hulu's startin to slip!
Watched 'Long Nights Short Mornings' late last night. Recommended. Really related to the main character and kind of hit a nerve reminding me exactly of how dating in NYC was when I lived there. I think I'm still partially shattered from crazy relationships I had there with women.
Bloodline third and final season now streaming. I'm on ep 5, pretty intense! I think Sissy Spacek needs an oxygen tank or something. SPOILER IN THE TRAILER if you haven't finished season 2
Bloodline season 3: I had such high hopes for this season, as I loved the first two seasons. Acting is still stellar, but the plot is such a convoluted mess. There is one episode towards the end that is completely pointless... Plot points go nowhere and major keys pop up out of left field. Major characters are absent, or exit stage left without rune or reason. If it had more seasons, as originally planned, it could have been fleshed out better.
Season 3 of Bloodline started so well but quickly devolved into a hot mess. I ended up hating it and thinking wow what a horrible way to end a promising show. You always know the writers can't come up with anything decent when they resort to dream sequences that go back an forth btw reality. Such a fucking played plot device and a complete cop out. The one good thing I liked was that Kevin's dumb ass went to jail. He was beyond annoying. And what was with John Leguizamo's character? Does a 360 without explanation and then goes out like that? What an absolute waste of about 10-12 hrs. I'm watching Handmaiden's Tale on Hulu right now- pretty good.
the documentary called "men in rubber masks" is on netflix. its really short, and an interesting watch to say the least.
Currently obsessed with Riverdale. Based on the Archie comics characters. Lovin it so far. Teen drama/murder mystery style. Fun stuff.
I guess those in LA and NYC will have a chance to check this out on the big screen this week... The rest of us will have to settle for the little ones. No spoilers, of course, but you should know that it does do the post-credits-scene thing. OKJA Bong Joon-Ho
I didn't care for it. By the end it seemed like it was just propaganda against GMOs and eating meat. Plus, I couldn't stand Jake Gyllenhaal or Shirley Henderson. I'm pretty sure Tilda Swinton has done that character at least twice before. Oh well.
I was bummed. I was all geared up to like it. I didn't care for Snowpiercer either, and I know a lot of people like that.
Everybody's right about The Host, everybody's wrong about Snowpiercer, everybody that hasn't yet should run and check out Memories of Murder and Mother, but I can accept that opinions may vary over Okja. I'll probably take the time to write out some of my opinions on it once more people have had a chance to take a look on their own. Just have to check, Mark -- Did you do that thing with either SP or O where you're doing other things while the film is on, or did you check 'em out in a dark room from credits to credits?
I was sick when I watched Snowpiercer but it had my full attention. Okja had my full attention, then lost it.
Okja played last night at New Beverly in LA. I'm glad I saw it there on the big screen, I don't think I would have appreciated the creature effects as much watching on TV or computer. Plus the perk of seeing it at Tarantino's theater was that he showed up with Bong and they introduced the film together. QT gave a good description, saying "Okja is like Mighty Joe Young, Free Willy and Schindler's List".
I dvr'd Snowpiercer, but took forever to watch it. Ended up liking it so much, I was bummed I waited so long. Will check out Okja for sure as I'm gathering both were done by the same guy. A guy named Bong no less.
Okja was fantastic if you can handle the ridiculousness and the guilt when you realize it's just a movie about pigs which truly are smarter than dogs and children and treated even worse than the creatures in the film.
