I got my Pink Cambrigon figure earlier this week. And what better way to take a picture of a retro inspired toy than with a retro game system?
Did anyone pick up one of these beauties before they sold out? Its an Obsessed Panda X Kabuto Studios collab piece. I couldn't pass this one up at all the paint is absolutely killer! Actually im glad i checked Soft Toy Hobby when i did. I wasn't expecting this to be released today.
I missed the micro-run, but managed to nab the one-off custom "chest burster" version. It'll go nicely with my "chest-burster" Awesome Toy Loch Ness (obviously) also painted by O'Panda. This'll be my first for this sculpt. Looking forward to it. The micro-run colors make me think of Evangelion, but most purple/green things do. (Too much green enters Devastator territory though.)
Nice! You know im glad i left it for you to nab. I was originally going to pick up both but i determined just getting one is enough plus it was marked at around 75 dollars which was higher than the micro run piece. He changed the price shortly after i made the purchase though. XD
Did anyone purchase one of the Tokyo Cambrigons? I ordered one and was wondering if anyone has gotten theirs yet.
"Cambrigon stands 3 inches tall and 4 inches wide" Kinda works for your math, no? Plus, y'know, you're a glow loving gal: This is one sharp looking little fellow.
Very true! Didn't know he was wider than he was tall! Cambrigon has been growing on me over these past few months, I think I will have to cave in soon... I love how chunky-looking and textures he is.
I purchased one and haven't received it yet, but I'm kind of adjusted to his shipping time now - it takes a while to get them, but it's always worth it, these lil dudes are seriously some of my absolute faves!
Got an email from him the other day, I wasn't aware of his shipping and productions times. Got a little antsy, Should be arriving sometime this week he said.
Did you ever end up getting yours? I ordered back on June 1st and didn't realize it had been a while since I'd bought it and it hasn't shown up yet. I was hoping I'd see more paints available too hah, I love these lil fellas!
I ordered a couple more than 2 months ago. After my last email was promised delivery this week. About to file a claim, I don't need 'em that bad.
Haha it would figure once I posted it would show up the next day, that's what I get XD Was sitting on my doorstep when I got home! And he included an unpainted gid version as well, which was super nice!! It's fantastic as always and I can't wait to have the other one painted! Hope there are more to come! Will post pics later, if it doesn't spoil it for anyone <3
That's some good news! I was going to email him again cause mine hasn't arrived. I'm currently at work so maybe it will be there when I get home. I collect Tokyo yellow figures so I really didn't want to make a PayPal claim or ask for money back.
Mine were waiting for me after work too, also with a blank. Long wait aside they look so good I'd definitely buy another colorway.
The reason behind the delay was a bad batch of clear coat that wouldn't cure. He had to remake the entire run
Matt stopped into Lulubell today, by recommendation of @CopASquatToys(thanks, Adam!) Super, super nice dude, and it was really cool to hear him talk about his inspirations behind this sculpt. I'm definitely wanting a couple myself, as I've yet to see one in person. But meeting Matt, especially so randomly, has made me more and more curious to this little bugger.
Yeah, its definitely one of those Kaiju monster sculpts I can stare at for hours and still enjoy no matter what color it is or how old the toy gets as the months go by.
And a bit of an open poll: what would you like to see as the next colorway for Cambrigon? I suggested a Kabutops tribute because I'm a bit of a pokemon nerd lol. Any other suggestions? Maybe a tribute to Ebirah with red and metallic blue and silver sprays?
