This as my most recent flea market find: a vintage She-Ra talking toothbrush holder. Scored for a mere $8. Needs a LOT of cleaning, and I'm not sure if it still talks but is a cool piece for the collection. It brought it home to me that we were pretty spoiled for weird gimmicks like this in the 80's. You don't see this kind of stuff for kids these days, at least not as far as I'm aware!
I don't know, it might be the most successfully horrifying image of him ever produced. Kinda wins in that way, Except for the fact that you now have to look at it in your own home. Talk about horrifying! Hilarious get, sir! I'd leave her filthy for, y'know, maximum irony.
@toothaction lol! I just might! I actually recently acquired the He-Man one for my birthday too, in much better condition, and complete. It even has the 2 toothbrushes it originally came with, which is both cool and freaking gross!
Nice. That's part of the fun with finding a rare toy for very little money - giving them a nice careful clean so they look even better . . . Ouch. Ziiinggg! He's a cute version of a Ninja turtle, I can't help it, I like him!
I dunno, in that state, I might have to give the edge to 'maximum grossness' looking at those toothbrush heads. But great finds on the two of them. I definitely like the He-Man one, and the little dial for the days of the week is a really cool touch.
All the gimmicks are on their phones now, that's all. That He-Man shield converted into some sort of clock-like "today I brushed" thing is pretty funny. I guess once a day is enough for the He-Man crowd! Gotta side with @toothaction on the Funko POP thing. Those things irk me like few toys do. I mean, I'm pretty sure I've seen the rare couple I thought was were conceived, but I made myself hate them anyway on principle. @ultrakaiju kinda sniped me on the dial thing, there.
I will admit @Odibex that I do own about 7 Funko POP figures: He-Man (that I'm repainting to Faker), Hordak, Judge Dredd, Mulder and Scully and Ragnar and Lagertha from Vikings. On the whole they are especially obnoxious now, with even bands getting the POP treatment. They were kinda fun when they first appeared (IMO) now they're just over doing it. I mean, I went into an FYE store the other day and they were having a buy 2 get one 75% off, probably because they literally had like 3 WALLS of the stuff! I suppose their appeal is that they're literally like pocket money toys. I give it 6 months before we see Misfits Funko with a Crimson Ghost. I'm actually surprised Jerry Only hasn't jumped on that money horse already.
I didn't realize they'd made those, but I guess I should've just assumed they had, since they've done literally ever other fictional character ever. Going to have to look those up out of curiosity. Little late to the party on that one, unfortunately I think I'll save my $$$ and get on of these awesome Misfits hackysacks instead
Gah! forgot about the CG one, but I'm still waiting on Jerry and Doyle to be made... lol! and what the crap? misfits hackysacks? seriously I cringe now, and at times I am ashamed to have the Fiend tattoo!
It's tough for me just having been a kid who endlessly reproduced that skull on my clothing, skateboards, etc., I can only imagine what it's like for folks with actual tatts I gotta be honest, though, the hacky sack is so absurd it doesn't even bother me. If I had some hippie/punk hybrid friends to kick on around with it'd be a must buy!
Korky the Cat from 'The Dandy' weekly comic. Part of my childhood, comic books were mandatory in my house growing-up. Vintage pin badge 20p at a boot-sale.
No idea what toy line this is from (no makers marks at all) but he's adorable. Totally reminds me of 'Gon' by Masashi Tanaka . . . 50p in a charity shop. 4" high approx.
Shinkansen - has a switch underneath that opens and closes the doors. Button on top that activates various train sounds . . . 30p at a boot-sale.
Very nice, Rei, well spotted on those transforming robos. I had the same, or slight variations of, each one of those. Gobots/Machine Robo get a lot of shit, but I still think Leader One looks pretty cool there.
Cool little bunch, Rei. Good finds! Here are my latest non-transforming, non-licensed Mecha / Power Suits. All from boot-sales for very little money . . . Both black ones had an arm missing that i had to search in the box of toys for. 9" high 6" high 6" high
Most recent Madball find at a boot-sale . . . Creep Frog (the larger Italian version on the left). 50p.
No sword and barely any stickers, but pretty nice condition overall! The "made in USA" LJN version. Spoiler The red shoulder & head are the only parts showing any wear.
