it's worth a shot http://www.newyorkcomiccon.com/Contact-Us/ also what about leaving them bad reviews on yelp or google reviews ( google reviews allows you to add images )?. however small it is- if enough people do it it might cause a ripple.
lol well let's not make him think he's fully responsible for that i don't want it to go to his head or nothin lol. just tired of unnecessary drama, so many guys ruin collecting and all this bullshit. there needs to be more women! but unfortunately dudes like him and other ruin it and give decent dudes a bad name. i dont even look at gender when it comes to collecting! i just want my toys.
It's nice to see you, @gutterutter! Your contributions and interactions here have been missed. Grab yourself an avatar and stay awhile!
I work in the mental health profession and the sad truth is that this guy has probably experienced some actual trauma in his life and is most likely pretty disturbed on a clinical level. It's hard to be emphatic with some one that is so overtly negative but clearly that is his comfort zone. He makes these comments and pushes people away so that he doesn't need to actually connect with anyone on a personal level. He creates a "me vs. them" mentality so that it doesn't have to be his fault. I've been to the SxS shop prior to reading this and I'm sorry to say that I supported his business. Aside from being high as kite, he came across as pretty normal and nice in person. As others have already stated, I hope he gets the help he needs. Otherwise, the best thing to do is probably just block him and not engage. It's going to be hard for him to run a successful business, especially in the neighborhood he just moved to, with all of this out in the open.
Yeah, all it would take is publicly sharing the screencaps of the threats of violence, rape and calling people *That banned F-Word* @NY_Comic_Con They'd have to at least acknowledge it.
In this case, I think emailing a well-composed message to NYCC staff, with screenshots attached, might be more effective.
This just seems kinda unusual and bizarre to me. Why would anyone who says they love toys so much, and obviously wants to be an active member of the toy collecting community, go about harrassing other collectors? Being a nasty little bully. Hell yeah. His crazy level of homophobia and hate towards women is worrying . . I haven't seen any racism yet, but i wouldn't be surprised.
Now we're seriously going out of our way to screw this guy. Let's try and come up with solutions not fuck some small business up. This guy is a piece of work, he is mean and does not show respect for others. Treating him with the same measure seems fair, but going an extra mile to block his shop is a bit different. Iuno, having met countless people that barely scrape by to make their stores work has led me to believe that regardless of how I feel about the brand, they are still making some effort I am not. *cough* *cough* *MAWANKA!* *cough* Also, I'm sure him being there and not selling anything due to this boycott of sorts is better for your intents than him saving the NYCC fee due to getting banned. Go picket the booth, there's an idea.
Here, here. Nice to see you back posting again @gutterutter! I know I've brought this up here before and we've discussed it, but it is really awful that in any kind of hobby, no matter what it is, people feel like they are (or ought to be) excluded because of a few - sometimes more than a few - bad apples. It really sucks that people can't just accept other folks enjoying what they like, and is even more astounding when it is the same thing. There are too few female collectors as it is, and when obtuse behaviour like this prevents, or even just makes you hesitant, to post, it hurts us all. Anyway, don't let certain experiences sour you on the general crowd, we're happy to have you, and tell your fiancee were actually good peeps by and large who are just here for toys, share some good banter, and to look out for one another.
I'd rather see his empty booth at NYCC while I'm in front of it handing out fliers with these screenshots on them
I'd disagree- I'd say we're calling out hateful, hurtful public behavior on the part of a business owner. He has by now had years and lots of feedback to get himself together. He has made his own bed, here- whatever personal problems it is driven by, he has/is in the process of fucking up his small niche business all by himself. Also, AFAIK, no other small business owners in our general "realm" of geekery have engaged in the awful conduct that S&S has, serially.
Posting his "genuine bad injury" (which was most likely caused by his stupid pointy ass rings) Asking for "antibiotics" on IG Then complaining (also publicly, of course) that *facemotherfuckingpalm*
Yeah this would actually line up with the Manic/Depressive mandate. Freak out(tantrum)-Withdraw(pander for sympathy)
Yeah, screw him and his crappy tee shirt brand. I just wonder if spending our energies this way is going to help at all. At the end of the day, just like any other urban tee maker out there, I can't care less about their future. I do care about the way we discuss it and how much of it actually becomes toxic to the boards.
To be fair though, he was more than toxic to many people on this board. Anything we say about him pales in comparison.
Yeah,, a bad idea. Sb has a total of 2,500 registered users. S&S88 has a total of 49k followers. Do you really think a sb boycott will prevent him from selling anything at nycc? Have you been to nycc? I've been the last 6/7 years and I can tell you that the amount of sheep lining up to buy graphic tees and iron-ons never seems to end. The idea of petitioning nycc to deny him a booth seems more viable, but I doubt anyone here will actually follow through and make it happen. Sorry to be cynical, it's just the way I see it. Not defending George, just trying to put some of this into perspective
So has George quit posting yet? I haven't bothered to check after that lovely exchange we had. Edit: lol, he blocked me.
Wasn't me either...but I may start contacting NYCC on multiple outlets if his behavior continues with no apology or remorse shown
