If you watch the Star Wars episode, you might see someone who looks a lot like me in there briefly. Apparently they went from our neck of the woods to Connel's neck of the woods. Interesting being on set, if we catch up in person, I can can tell you more. Until then, wait for it to air....!
My wife saw the ads a few weeks back and threatened to call them on me. She even said she had the perfect catch - they can deal with me AND my obsessive collecting father at the same time - a double whammy! The perfect selling point. All I can say is she best not!!
^ Nate.... That is probably the most frightening image that I have ever seen on this forum! Looks interesting..? I definitely want to watch this to see all of the collections. I have to watch this show first, so my opinion is TBD. I have set my DVR to record the upcoming two episodes (Star Wars and Catwoman on 8/14, and Die Cast Cars, G.I. Joe, and Barbies on 8/21). Maybe if I watch this with my husband, he won't think that my collection is that massive and will be more accepting of this hobby. He has definitely stopped complaining as much over the years, so this is good. Hopefully they will have a kaiju and vintage sofubi episode... Although, if they try to get these people to sell off some of their collection....
Just get a crazy collector wife/girlfriend like I did and then you don't have to worry about stuff like this. Instead you just have to find room for it all and compete with them at the toy shows.
Yeah, anyone whose partner tries to get them to stop doing things they love, is in a bad relationship. Collector love for life. I couldn't be with someone who was trying to make me get rid of my stuff and make me stop doing something I care about. I hear that so much from collectors and its mind boggling.
I'm still in the middle of the first episode - it's very cool to see Brian Flynn and Super 7 featured so prominently. Congrats, Mr. Flynn!
Brians basic cable premeire was aaawkwaaaard. did anyone else notice that the catwomen dude married a lovely lady that happened to look quite similar to Earth Kitt? Good for him Sansweet buying the Rex statue was a geek out moment for me, assuming that actually happened…. I don't trust anything on tv
I got mixed feelings about this show, but the lady who hosts it made good points. The Catwoman collector was just hoarding and not taking care of his stuff. Star Wars couple were too emotionally attached to their toys. I guess that's why it's called intervention. LOL I'll watch it again though. I wonder if they'll ever touch western vinyl collectors/sofubi? I just wish more organization or after pics of the areas are shown. So you can see improvement on their collection. Spoiler So what did Bryan do with Wicket? LOL
Some great nuggets hidden in the intro montage. I spotted a Trider Jumbo Machinder, among other items. (I think one was sold on ebay about 2 months back - I wonder if it was the same one being sold as a result of this show.) Spoiler Not a bad show. But I don't like how the final shot of the Catwoman collector's garage was empty. They said he kept a few items. But from the very beginning of the show, they said the point was not to separate him from his collection. Yet that is EXACTLY what they did. He sold off practically everything! Paring down a collection so it is manageable is one thing. "Convincing" him to sell off almost everything under the pressure of rolling cameras is quite another. Not cool. With regards to the SW collection, its kind of funny that Brian showed up to help them get their collection under control, but only offered to snag a handful of tiny figures. Like that was going to reduce the clutter in their house! Just busting chops. He might have tried to help in other ways but they edited it out. Also, it was probably just meant as an ice breaker. But you can surely see how it might seem to others watching the show.
you never know, he might have come around on his own. when you have to have a tv show intervention to curb your collecting habit... i could see it being an eye opener
thanks, usually the on-line episodes are blocked in almost any US tv network if you try to watched outside USA, but this seem to work, I will watch it today after work
Thanks, really glad it plays in the uk not limited to the US, enjoying it so far. Edit: I really don't like the woman though, very dollar driven
This show needs to be merged with "Clean House". I not satisfied with just watching the people get depressed. I want to see awesome display cases and set ups created with the money they make from selling off parts of their collections. That would be a way better payoff! Plus I'm fond of Nicey Nash
Howie Pyro (of D-Generation and Danzig's band, among others) will be featured on September 4 showing off his LP collection.
Thanks for the link -- I was really hoping this would be viewable somewhere besides a torrent. Not having cable is the best. Spoiler How much for the Wicket? Collect or death.
I really want that Wicket, just because it was loved so much and had such a great history. I felt so bad for her.
