Nice. I've always really liked that guy on the left. I think the yellow version is my fav.

Wanted to share some photos of my recently acquired Monster Parade set. I did some reading on them and they are recreations of some really cool old toys which had a mechanism in them which bobbed their heads up and down when wound up. These recreations by Zollmen/Medicom don't have that same mechanism in them, but they do have the amazing boxes with such cool artwork! The originals appear to be insanely expensive and rare... you can own them for just 1,500,000 yen?!

I was curious how the original's worked and found a video showing one of them in action:

Anyway, here are some photos, with more in the "spoiler":

That pachi head-bobber is nuts! Didn't expect it to move that slowly; if one can go for a long time I imagine it would be a little hypnotic. The Zollmen set looks beautifully-produced, as you might expect. Congrats on the fine new additions.

Thanks! I was surprised how slow they move also, really great to see one of them in action!

    Awesome photos! :D
Also, thanks for sharing the nodder video, that's pretty amazing! Perhaps it moves slowly because the motor mechanism is vintage. It's pretty risky winding that toy! Would be a very expensive "breakage", but nonetheless, a great video! :D

Second new toy in many years - this hefty die cast gold guy! Always liked the MB sculpt, but I think the vinyl version came out around the time I was winding down on collecting. But when I saw the first die cast version last year I put myself on high alert for a color other than red, and soon after was able to nab this! Probably done buying toys again for who knows how long…but if a blue or green version comes out I may be tempted for a second (or third!).

Comes with an adorable MB finger puppet too.

I have no interest in getting a second diecast (feels like cursing one of them to shelf dive eventually) but the bonus accessory really tempted me. Just like kids' toys, I guess!

Maybe it's because of my SB Phantoms and Exohead MMs, but the die cast Mad Baron seems incredibly stable. Certainly one of my least likely to dive toys, exceeded only by Bemons, Godzillas, and Hedorahs.

Very stable! Not like the plastic MB at all. It's more the weight--if it ever falls over, there will probably be damage.

That finger puppet is calling to me but I guess I'll just watch the aftermarket for one. Makes it more fun.

    Blue Mad Baron arrived!
Just in time for another offering in black. Might pass on that one. Should pass, but we'll see... ;)

Your collection just about mirrors mine. I have Bolan and not Jimi, but I also have Andy I believe. The clear yellow with red armor. And I have an unclear Willy white grodnoid.

That should be “milky” white Gronnoid. I’ll snap a picture shortly!

Pardon my ignorance on Henshin Cyborg types but who are the tall guys in the back?

I'm tempted by the die cast but I feel like it'll just open a door to metal toys in general.

I have three different cyborg suits:

1 - Secret Base Death Phantom - that's the gold chrome guy and grey/red guy.
2 - Secret Base Toxic Phantom - far left side, you can't really see them very well in that pic
3 - Skull Toys Doku Rocks (or Dokuro King?) - the orange face guy and all the ones to the right

I was really happy to see the Mad Baron die cast toys because I always like the MB toy but they looked like they don't stand well...and that's already an issue for the Exo and henshin cyborgs! And so far it's been surprisingly easy to score the two MB I have. It has been a moderately slippery slope - I hadn't bought any toys in years, but suddenly I splashed out $300ish bucks each for two toys! I plan on getting one more, and then calling it quits.

Thought that might be the case. ;) Or else it was named Willy!

I'm not sure if I ever posted these here, but several years ago, I acquired a set of uncut armor and extensions from the last few Exohead figures, cast in a clear pink (probably) matching Teet. I suspect that these were all part of the same mold.

Aside from the Russ and Grodnoid armors, the set included Grodnoid guts and arm extensions for Teet, Russ and the Grodnoids. In addition, there was one more arm extension that was never used (to my knowledge) and something that looked like a waist piece.

I remember someone mentioning that the Grodnoid armor had issues with bubbles in the legs, and you can definitely see that here.

Always meant to go back and take better photos of these.

Very nice! I remember seeing these on Mandarake years back. Any pics of the arm attachment? I never could figure out what it was from the picture I saw.

Here is the unused arm extension and the mystery piece. It's a little hard to see, but the extension looks like a lamprey head. I still can't figure out where the mystery piece is supposed to go.
