Here's a crappy visual checklist. The one that I am missing is the black/silver red eye lucky bag. And there is a blank gid one with low numbers. So there are 28 mini zags total that have been standard releases. I have not included the rakugai contest winner mini zag (I think it was limited to 10 or less) and the camo mini zags. I don't really count those as "standard" releases.
That would be perfect if Keith updated the few new ones (that I know he has) and omitted the custom jobs. Now where am I going to find a Hawaii....GID w/blue spray....SDCC '07....and S7 Orange painted (I know I know...this one just came out and I missed it)?
The clear or solid? I know that the yellow clear is Max Toy from SDCC and he made 30 of them. The solid yellow is a Lucky Bag from 2007. I think.
Should have been more specific, the solid yellow. I don't know how but I've never seen that release before. I love the unpainted yellow vinyl. I think that's my favorite color unpainted.
crystalglowchrome has a sweet M1 unpainted yellow matango up for sale right now pretty cheap. you know, if you dig the unpainted yellow thing...
Just saw that and it's an incredible deal! If I didn't owe someone else a grip load of cash I would probably snatch it up. Thanks for the heads up!
So I tossed aside my clipboard and grabbed a shovel. Below is a visual reference of standard size Zags with dates hopefully in chronological order. I'm still working on it and at some point I'll take shots of all my Zags to replace the pics I pulled to have more of a consistent visual Database like Joe had done on a few lines. I'll also create a flickr group as soon as I can. The jpgs are 8.5" x 11" if folks want to pull 'em and print 'em. Now, I only included the Gargamel production releases and not the Koziks releases. I though maybe those could be some sort of amendment to the list since there were so many and since those were not painted by Gargamel. I'm sure I'm off on some of the dates and orders of releases. I could use some help on the Yujin and Subscriber Zags...not sure on exact dates for those. Any more info, corrections would be greatly appreciated. Now start drooling. Oh, I tried to pull all the pics I could find on the Gargamel site, but if folks have better pics or don't want me to use any I hoodwinked, just let me know.
Just curious why you "don't really count those as 'standard' releases"? I see them as released for public consumption, therefore, should be listed along any other zag. I know some people who don't count some pus items as standard releases because they're almost impossible to obtain therefore do not exist.
Could that Zag reference get moved to be a permanent place at the top of the posts (like the 'shows' posting)? I think online databases that folks could add to would be great. Maybe establish some formatting rules (i.e. size of image)?
Beautifully done. Great job Ralph. It's great to learn some of those names that I didn't know about before. And here's a cropped pic of the LB06 Unpainted Blue Zag if you want to use it. Original pic I believe was from hiro.
yes. edit...the affirmative was in response to daniel. joe's always a post a head of everyone on skullbrain.
Ah..Didn't know there were 2. Anyway...This zagoran and the unpainted blue (with the same base vinyl) were the ones I was referring to.
Thank you VERY much for the visual guide to full-size Zags... there's less than I assumed there were, but still quite a few, with such fantastic variety. A guide like this is definitely a huge help for both knowing what's out there, and is just fun to look at Thank you very much for your effort.
@ Joe, this dark blue unpainted is the "Blue 55" vinyl used for Zag #1. I don't think it was released for purchase, someone correct me if I'm wrong. The 2006 unpainted blue is much lighter, I do have it but have to dig it up and photograph it.
That is correct. The unpainted light blue standard Zag is much lighter baby blue in vinyl color. That's the first time I've seen that darker blue unpainted Zag tho'. Kinda cool.
Here we go jacked this from an older thread. this is the darker blue the Rakugaki is lighter as you can see. great work with this checklist so far! can i add the original harawata should probably only be labeled 'Original' Harawata is just the japanese translation for 'guts' and is referring to all standard size gargamel figures with guts
