I am looking for help in finding out what this guy's name really is. As I understand it, he is a character from the Ambassador Magma/Space Giants show. I have not had any luck getting any other info on him though, including what his name really is... I have seen him referred to variously as Gana, Belzor, Barzaz, and Balzaz... Anybody know what his name (or names) really is? Maybe it says on the header card (sorry I don't have a bigger or better picture). Thanks!
Baruzasu is great and I was happy to add him to my collection a little while ago. Can someone confirm that there are some with white eyes and some with yellow? Is one more limited than the other? Thanks.
Googling Baruzasu, here is the only thing I came up with: "#41 The Fierce Attack of Illusion Monster Balzas (Gen Kaiju Baruzasu no Moshu--4/10/67): "At a local carnival, adults and children are enjoying themselves on the various rides, when all of a sudden appears Ghana, Rodak`s newest creature! Ghana wrecks the carnival, disappears, and then appears in another spot on a road, only to disappear again. "Miko and Gam appear on the scene and discover Ghana`s footprints. They notice the footprints moving in one direction and then another. Mathuslah tells Goldar that Ghana is composed of vegetation and that it has the power to disguise itself as anything organic, a blade of grass, a tree, etc. "The latest report places Ghana at the zoo. Miko, Gam and Kita, accompanied by the Commander and his troops, arrive at the zoo. They hear large footsteps coming from some of the cages, but find nothing. "Miko and Gam decide to go back to the carnival in search of clues. The boys search high and low. Suddenly, Gam finds a small flower, all by itself, in the sand. Remembering what he was told about Ghana`s abilities, Gam fires a ray at the flower and it becomes the monster! A call goes out for the Space Avenger! "However, as Goldar arrives, Ghana disappears without a trace."
I got the "Gana" reference from page 122 of the book "Collecting Monster Toys" (by John Marshall), not that he knows what he is talking about. Here is a scan of the picture and the caption from the book:
The Katakana phonetically spells out BA-RU-ZA-SU. This the 1997 Marmit VP-38 Space Giants figure from the Vinyl Paradise line. In addition to white eyes, there was a dark green with Yellow eyes and an unpainted transluscent blue exclusive. Baruzasu was also seen on the cover of the book "So Crazy Japanese Toys", seems like a very suitable toy for the cover!! And here's a close-up of the Yellow Eye variant from the KaijuZoo menagerie (along with his other VP friends Satan Rose and Alien Banderu):
The book you just posted says his name is "Belzor." But you sound like you know what youre talking about so...
