We'll be at WonderCon as well. Looks like you all may need to consider the weather. It's turned from Light Rain to Thunderstorm for Saturday. =/
Had CPK tonight. Impeccable service. But it's definitely all corporate joints around. Can someone go to Disneyland get me a turkey leg please?
Aside from missing the attending company, is there anything going on Saturday that would warrant not going today, Friday?
see Mike & Joe in S7 stall today. Hope they score something. just back from WonderCon. not so interesting to go there. i like D-con even better, as no more fan of comics book or some other toys. but pictures of HOT later. the parking next to convention only $12.00 if you go early should be best. Hope good weather tmw.
Change of venue doesn't sound like it's helped WCon any. It is basically what SDCC used to be years ago. Hell, I remember going to ComicCon before it stayed in SD. It used to fit in one of the big hotel conference rooms. WCon was the same...then they moved it to Moscone Centre.
The con was fun. I went to the Regular Show panel. The panel was entertaining. I didn't really expect to find much to buy. Found some stuff at one of the 50% off graphic novels booths. You can really find some good deals on comics if you don't mind digging a little.
That's a shame. I hoped that the change of venue would increase attendance. From what I've been told, WonderCon has always been a tough sell. While some aspects like costuming have improved, others not so much. Volunteering is one of the easiest ways to get in for free but they're always a shortage of applicants. Unlike CCI where they now have to turn people away. I was supposed to go to WonderCon on Sunday but something came up. Sucks.
Actually, if you buy comic books and the like, Sunday is the best time to go. When it was up here, my brother wouldn't buy anything till Sunday. Some stalls will do a buy 2 get 1 free, or buy 1 and get 50% off.
Had fun at WC on Friday. It has been said and I agree , a lot like SDCC used yo be.... that's why i liked it! Looking forward to going again today.
Nate and I decided to stay home. We wanted to make a full day out of it by going to Downtown Disney but the rain ruined it. Going over for a few hours and generally spending money I should be saving was a factor too. Maybe next year!
Saturday Wondercon Head Count Who's still attending today? I hate the rain, so I'm thinking of bowing out and opting for a day of laundry instead...
I had fun on Friday but the rain kept me at bay. I'm a wuss, I know. I'm sure you guys had fun hanging out though.
Had a great time Saturday. The rain was at a minimum and barley noticeable in Anaheim. We got there around 10am and breezed right in. Thanks to Todd for being the designated driver, Aaron for getting us Comp passes, Joe for saving my starving ass and letting me go ahead of him at the front of the food court line, Guf for the free resin tattoo swag and letting me fondle his Swine, and to Carl, Todd, an Aaron for being my wing-men. The place was packed but everyone was being pretty cool. Had tons of fun rummaging through bins of action figures and silly little plastic toys. Here's what I brought home:
It was an action figure kind of day. I was on the hunt for rounding out some Jack Kirby character sets. Came home with A Kalibak, two Darkseids, omac, kamandi and steppenwolf figure courtesy of DC universe. No Jp toy pressure. Although I did pick up a really interesting item which I'd seen around online once or twice, but nice to see in person. Got to checkout Gufs new King Swine beastie, but had to stick to my vinyl rules. Looking forward to seeing him in vinyl. The green St Patricks day one off was rad tho! I urge u to track him down and buy it! Also picked up a boo berry bank and some pencil toppers for a pal. Great hanging with everyone, Connell, Todd, Aaron, Guf, Gufs missus, Joe, Aaron, Frank.
Think Toybot posted these a few days ago. I thought they were pretty good: Yeshmin at Wondercon Pt. 1 Yeshmin at Wondercon Pt. 2
