For the past several years I've been sick to death of new hip hop. But I just picked up El-P's Weareallgoingtoburninhellmegamixxx3 double LP yesterday and I'm loving it. Pretty much just instrumentals, similar to Little Johnny From the Hospitul. The LP came with a DL code along with another DL code for the first two megamixxxes. Well worth the money. Doesn't sound as good in MP3 format through a computer as it does on vinyl, but it'll have to do until I get home. (Also picked up the Eagle Twin / Pombagira split 12".)
Orange Goblin is great! Todays playlist was: Bars - Introducing... Beacons - Cloudkicker Clutch - S/T Coliseum - Goddamage Corrosion of Conformity - Deliverance Cro-Mags - The Age of Quarrel
Lately it's been all about the Mind Eraser Especially Conscious Unconscious. 21 minutes of just pure darkness. It's so fucking tight.
Spring is finally here! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2egVw1EqtDc A very happy group that also makes really nice handmade soap

Don't know if there are any opera fans out there... The Met's performance of Don Giovanni by Samuel Ramey and Kathleen Battle was an absolutely chilling performance. Here, Don Giovanni, after a life time of womanizing and murder is sent to his doom. He previously mocked a statue of the Commendatore in a cemetary, and invited the statue to his house for dinner. Here, the Commendatore appears late in the evening, and the scene shows the Don's acceptance for eternal doom (perfect example of pride and doom).... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dK1_vm0F ... re=related Even if you don't like opera, it's amazing just to listen to the deep tones that come from these baritone and bass (which I find more fun to listen than tenors ) *too bad Kathleen got booted out from the Met for being such a notorious Diva--her voice was stunning
The new Skull Defekts feat. Daniel Higgs "Peer Amid" is great. I just caught them on tour at a little punk house venue. Great set. Higgs used to sing for Lungfish but has since moved on to weird solo banjo/jawharp stuff, so it was nice to see him fronting a band again.
Nice one, haven't listened to OK in a looong time! Thanks for brining these up, I'll go and youtube them now!
Question, does anyone remember a slayer song cover (raining blood) on a punk compilation in the 90's... I've been searching for it all day... I just remember electronics being used, (some sort of synth)... *Edit* I'm now listening to Reggie and the full effect doing their version of Raining Blood, and I'm in heaven... (I'm not sure if that's really where Slayer music is supposed to take me?)
