My bad, I thought these were heavy duty looking guns. Not being a gun expert I didn't know they were merely BB guns. Well when the zombie attack happens I'll just pilfer local gun shops like everyone else. Shotguns are hard to confuse with other guns. LOL. C.
yah, i really have no friends... My roommate saw my Toypunks DVD the other day and asked what it was....I explained and he was absolutely uninterested....but he's not hip like that anyway so I'm not bothered. I 've never had to explain my toys to any person. The other day I was coming back from the post office with a box from Japan, I brought my dog with me in the car & I started explaining the toys that were in the box to him but I could tell there was no interest there either.
What gets me are people who are, "Hmm...that's..uh.. unusual " while at the same time they have a ton of useless sports memorabilia or used gum of movie stars. Whatever.
Heeey,,we can hit em in the eye or somethin Seriously tho ever get hit by a souped up airsoft? These things wont just leave a welt. They can actually break skin.
most of my friends think they are pretty cool...they say it's healthy and that it's good that i'm not to obsessive...and then they see the record collection and take back whatever they said about my toy habit! a girl i've been hanging out with lately actually thinks they are kinda cute...especially my RxH mini cats!
My wife - "I don't care" My little brother - "Why don't you play with them?" My mother in law - "Why don't you sell them?"
Misunderstood is the lot of the kaiju collector. I'm not sure I'd have it any other way. "If the masses like it, it can't be good." - Mike Lucas, Phantom Surfer
Oh I also get a lot of (from Star Wars collectors, I still dabble btw) "What? There's not even articulation, barely! That looks like a cheap POS anyway, I can't believe it! Wasting you're money man ::as they wrestle for some variant, cheap, Clone toy::"
I'm kind of a private person, so only a few ppl have actually seen my collection in person. I don't really like to show it to ppl unless I think it's something they'd be into anyway. my best friend dropped in and he really liked the RxH stuff (especially the black shintosan), and he liked the mini walking hedorans. he missed seeing my japanese robot collections (all packed away), and thought my PVC statue collection of anime characters was pretty neat. my girlfriend doesn't really give a fuck, but she knows how much I like having them around so she hates to see me sell them. my dad hasn't seen my vinyl, but he likes the VOTOMS stuff.
My favorite was from my old roommate. He saw that I had a package and his response was, "Let me guess, another goo monster?". Most people in nyc asked if they were like the toys from kidrobot, I usually just said "kinda" and they seemed to think that was cool (kind of ironic!). My mom actually referred to one my toys as "artistic" recently, so thats progress!
hmmm... made me think to myself, how would I introduce my mini-zags to non vinyl collectors? "anyone wants to see my one-eyed monster?"
I never get a good reaction from people until they ask how much each toy costs. A co-worker told me today that my Horvath Flatwoods toys are creepy. I think they're cute...
iv gotten that at least its not drugs comment before to if they amount of money i spent on toy was on drug i would have been dead years ago im not keith richards
"Starting a toy store?" "Bought any new dolls lately?" And my favorite of recent memory: Appraiser opened the door to the room housing my collection and, "WOW! Wasn't expecting this..."
