don't know about anyone else, but I got 'em cause they look cool. Difference is, I knew they were customs before I bought them.

Some do in the toy world although I haven't heard of this in the kaiju scene. There are certainly people who knowingly collect boots of Michael Lau figures. I have a couple, although I didn't know I was buying boots at the time. Lau sellers at auction sites who consistently claim "I lost the box" and only show stock photos of the items are not to be trusted, if you're looking for the real deal.

I have boots of some Balzac stuff, but I definitely knew what they were when I got them

I think I got a Michael Lau bootleg on ebay, it was pretty cheap, it was my first lau and not being too familiar with the crazy childern/gardener/lambdog stuff I couldn't tell if it was just how vinyl is or if it was poor production quality. Seeing how popular his stuff is, i will assume it's bootleg

    No more lau for me!
