Hey, long time no hear - Welcome to SkullBrain and RFSO !! And that IS a huge assortment of colors and shapes, quite impressive. I especially like the KaijuZoo Marmit GID Gomora on the 3rd shelf For everyone else, here is another pic: http://www.kaijuzoo.com/gomora.html
Incredible collection! It's also nice to see a fellow GI Joe and Star Wars collector My Joe stuff is mostly 60's & 70's PH and FH Joes. As for SW I stick with Marmit, Medicom and Sideshow 12" figures. That Kaiju shelf is supa HARDCORE tho. I don't know if I can ever reach that level but It'll be fun trying
John, thanks for the welcome! Good to hear from you and let me state publicly that I love the work you did on my Marmit glow Gomora. If I get any more unpainted glows, I'll get in touch. Robert, thanks for the compliments. It has taken 12 years of hunting to build it up and I've loved every minute of it. I concentrate mostly on Kaiju but pick up the occasional Trans, GI, or SW item that catches my eye. A few list members have already contacted me regarding my hunt for the hand and lips demons from Barom 1, which I greatly appreciate. This board has been fun and it's great to check out other's collections, customs, crazy pics, etc. I'll post one more pic of the other wall of kaiju then I'll stop my pic-posting madness.
Good God. You are a lucky man -- You must have a very understanding wife. My girl would castrate me in my sleep and then slit my throat (in that order) if I had that many toys. Is there any way you can take a picture of the room from the doorway, looking in? I'd be really interested to see it from that perspective.
Yeah, my wife is cool with it. This room is a quarter of my basement which I finished so I could have this hobby room and my kids could have a separate play room. My hobby room is L shaped and very cramped so the pics I posted I took with my back up against the bookshelves. The view from the doorway is sort of like looking down a tunnel and you can't see these shelves until you're all the way in. Sounds goofy, I know. I'm off to have a beer or 2 and shoot some zombies. Should I listen to Killswitch, Mushroomhead, or Protest the Hero? I'll check back later...
Love the G.I. joe- literally took me back to toyshops as a kid, some of my earilers memories, standing gawping at rows of G.I.Joe figures- trying to make the best choice! Beautiful.
I think you could charge admission for that room! Let's see.....GI Joe..... check, Star Wars..... check, Kaiju..... check; nope, don't think that you missed anything. Your geek room could totally beat up my geek room.
Hidden on your gid shelf i spy a Guiron. Is that one a glowie too? I was unaware of a gid version, if so, and who might it be by? I also really love that pink version of Red King, what is it's story? That's one nice room.
Thanks guys! You oughta see the way my wife rolls her eyes when she steps inside, my kids love it tho. My buddy dubbed it the geek room. All the GI Joe carded figs are re-releases from the past 2 years. I have a handful of 80's carded Joes in storage somewhere. These 25th Anniv. versions also threw me back to the 80's and I can't help but buy 1 or 2 when I see them in stores. jojo, that Guiron is a glowie made by Marusan. The pink Marmit Redking was a show exclusive from several years ago, I'd have to dig out the header for show and date info. The other version of that Redking is gold with a mini Pigmon.
I've woken up in this room, sitting in the x rocker chair, with a puddle of beer on my shirt/lap. Often wonder why my wife wanted to marry a slobbish geek like me.
Nah, it's not a competition. Collect what you like and can afford. I've been blowing $ for about 15 years and most of what you see in these pics is Bandai which is relatively cheap. Can't get enough Bandai Ultra kaiju! Over the past few years, MJ at ClubTokyo has slowly been twisting my arm to buy vintage and he may finally be getting me to slide down that slippery slope.
