Re: Upcoming Japanese vinyl. I do like this figure design, not so much the middle finger gesture though. Then again, I'm biased towards Ogon Bat which this is also paying homage to. (note; bat tattoo, obvious color and face design).
Re: Upcoming Japanese vinyl. I believe the first Japanese toy of a licensed character toy was Ohgon Bat.
Re: Upcoming Japanese vinyl. You see, there was a nice way to do it COOP - lovely Lil Mort's set you just showed. Did they come baged or boxed ?
Re: Upcoming Japanese vinyl. Boxed. I was pushing for a "Bullmark Hawaii" version - I wanted to handpaint a small run with V-Color and put them in bags with header cards! Maybe next time. I did design the box myself, and I think it came out pretty neat.
Re: Upcoming Japanese vinyl. this thread is classic skullbrain btw...like circa 2005-2007 era. Good shit!
Re: Upcoming Japanese vinyl. Ohgon "Baseball Bat!" Get it??? Here's a twist. Not too crazy about the figure over all - but I really really like the character. I know its based on the Ohgon - but I really like the idea of it being updated and dare say it "urbanized". I think it would have been interesting to have pushed the vinyl interpretation based more on the core of the character than trying to match the aesthetic of the drawing. I think he would make an awesome mini and should also have his own TV show. I wonder if they put any of the parts on separate molds so they can do variations on some of the body parts??
Re: Upcoming Japanese vinyl. Oh, was I supposed to respond? It was interesting. I really didn't have anything to add.
Re: Upcoming Japanese vinyl. Nah, it's just there were two pages of further comments and nothing regarding it. I was sort of hoping someone would contradict me.
Re: Upcoming Japanese vinyl. as stated in some previous thread, Mike Giant's character is loosely based on Ogon Bat. My character is also based on a character from Ogon Bat.
Re: Upcoming Japanese vinyl. I threw away my punk rock handbook long ago, it felt good. Don't get me wrong, I still love the stuff .....
Re: Upcoming Japanese vinyl. Parenting 101 . . . never give the child that seeks attention by throwing a hissy-fit the attention they crave, eventually they'll learn that it doesn't wok. BTW Are you French Canadian?
Re: Upcoming Japanese vinyl. Debate, not attention. I don't feel a very strong need to validate my opinions through forum posts, but I like the scene and debates are part of what makes it fun. I am. The Canadian part is polite, the French part contradicts everyone for the sake of it. And the quality of my English badly deteriorates at night.
Re: Upcoming Japanese vinyl. why make a vinyl figure? a "toy" that doesnt appeal to toycollectors ...its hardly a toy. just like a dummy. made to sell or made because they like, rape of culture anyway. considering the price (of minis) & its availability last toy discussed on skullbrain. articulation i couldnt care less, i keep my toys MIB, no need to play with. does that disqualify me from being a toycollector? best line so far in 2010.
Re: Upcoming Japanese vinyl. I'm glad someone picked up on that line, I was quite pleased with it myself
Re: Upcoming Japanese vinyl. Finger puppets are toys and have no articulation, right? Not even vinyl ones in particular, but cheap dollar store ones. Lots of REAL toys have no articulation (by real I mean toys made for ages 1+ to actually be eaten and shit on not what's discussed here generally.) Just sayin'. On the 2 toys mentioned here, I see the Mort figure and don't like it. I don't know why, no pretention, no reason, I just dislike it. I DO like a lot of COOP's work though, generally most of it. I do like the Toypunks figure. The finger is a little meh but doesn't turn me off totally. No reason why, I just look at it and like it. Simple reasons. Because I do and because I don't. I can't even read past 2 pages of this thread YEESH!
