hey earnest....I am not slow....on the contrary ....my question was directed at someone that really knows what is up....not some over anxious "new booty" like you who feels the need to answer any question just because they think they can help.....bottom line....leave it to the professionals...or at least someone who knows.... and you are right Glenn....I will stop....this is stupid ....but I really couldn't let it go once homie called me slow....I mean c'mon dog....I just want my mook...Maybe you could answer my question Glenn? I would say RFSO....but RFSO don't live here anymore....
http://www.skullbrain.org/bb/viewtopic. ... &start=150 in this thread..a lot of people on the East Coast have received theirs already. even Taiwan but some in Portland, Oregon still have not. I think it's mainly due to Xmas and the fact that media mail is completely unpredictable. This won't help your inquiry but might explain how random the shipments have been. and I think Josh said the group shipped all of them on Wednesday the 12th.
Wow! I just took a quick look through it! I love it! And what I REALLY love is the colorway of the mook itself. I'm guessing each mook cover will be based on an existing toy colorway? If that's the case, I absolutely LOVE that little detail!!! And did I read somewhere that the slip cover is black on black for subscribers and silver on black for non-subscribers? My one critique is regarding some of the photo checklists. While they look stunning in their design (or in the case of SB, the contact photos), they may not serve the purpose of cataloging colorways as well as the RxH section does. Again, very fun to look at design-wise - but for someone who is not familiar with the toys it may be frustrating or confusing. I'm looking forward to reading the content (and looking at all the photos over and over again) during the next week or so!
I love the collector interviews. They may have been edited for brevity, but they're still fun, and it was great to see some familiar board members in that section. The history of Marusan and Bullmark was especially appreciated. I'll be re-reading that section and, well, the whole things many times.
I was finally able to see mine last night...it was delivered to an address I'm not at normally...I was so excited to look at it, and then I took it on the train with me this morning... this is really an amazing piece of work...I know I'm joining an already large chorus, but it really was worth the wait...I won't even list the amount of things right with this "issue." Still, I can't get over how amazing the Marusan/Bullmark/Repro photos are... ONE very small thing I'd say, and I felt this way about most articles in S7, is that I wish the articles were longer...I know you can only say so much...but I think the audience who would read this is down for as in-depth of an article as we could get. The articles all cover a lot of ground, but I'd be down for a lot of info not normally covered in Toy Articles. I also would hav liked more from the toy collectors, as they are the oil in wheels of this whole world. I LOVE reading about others and their collections. All of this is not a big deal though, as I'm enjoying what IS in there a ton...and the space given to the photos far outweighs the need for longer texts. I'm very psyched for the next one, whenever it comes out...and think this is the new high bar in coverage of toys and collectors...I love it, and plan on giving it a place of honor in my ridiculous book collection...
Still waiting Looks like I'll be getting it next Thursday when I'm back in town. THE SUSPENSE KILLS MEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
i'm with you...it looks like i won't see mine until 2008. it comes to me via work and i'm getting ready to take off from this place. i may get a chance to chek out a friends next week but if not the first day back at work i'm gonna get nothing done.
Media Mail can easily take 3 weeks to get delivered from say NY to MD (180 miles); every once in awhile its fast.
Some of you are more negative than me! have faith - chant 777, 777, 777 and see a package arrives tomorrow.
Well I just spent about the last hour and a half since I got home from work reading / marveling at the mook. Great job to all involved. It reminds me of being young and spending hours just staring at the toy sections of holiday catalogs and circulars. I need to renew my subscription for the next one.
Really dug the toho and Astro-mu. I agree... an M1-go section please. Maybe with some matango love? My only complaint would actually be the Q and A Collectors section. Rather then showing pics of the people how about pics of their collections. Or just a pic of the toy in mention with more background on that toy. Sorry guys, I know a couple of you, I like you, but I dont really want to look at you in my Mook. Unless its as a vinyl likeness -m
Oh I agree there - I wouldn't want to see my fat ass in print either - As you can tell I haven't got a Mook yet!
Ya know... Was waiting for someone else to bring this one up... That had to be the weakest filler like part of the mook. That whole section smacked of asskiss, payback and self-aggrandizing ego-boo. I'm not really interested in the people who collect or manufacture toys. And I'm in total agreement with your critique... The Astro-Mu and the Toho were the best.
Word. I held back but Im glad you didnt. Exact same feelings I had. I think half pages of just a photo/s of their collection would have been better. I was in complete awe of Marks collection when I saw it in person. I just want to see that. The only thing that redeemed my disintrest in that section was the fact that one of the Gargamel dudes favorite toys was the M1 Matango. Yeah
I have a bad rep for not holding back on the criticism, And I'm no sycophant. ............Just ask Brian
Maybe its the non toynerd/shut-in/socially awkward side of me but I actually really enjoyed this section.
Wow, I guess it really is different strokes for different folks. As much as I love pretty pictures, finding out collecting rationale and the stories behind the creations are just as fascinating for me. My favorite part of the mook is the text, honestly (well, right behind the header card shots). The folks in the "collector" section either contribute through knowledge or creation/selling of the items the mook focuses on. Why NOT find out a little about them. I don't see that as them trying to enhance their reputation.
