Anybody ever see Prophecy? Not The Prophecy... just Prophecy. It's about mutated animal beasts, of some sort. I remember seeing it like 15-20 years ago on TV and liking it as a kid, but couldnt remember the name for the life of me. I finally figured it out and added it to the front of my Netflix DVR queue. Hoping that 20 years later it's not a disappointment.
Just watched Black Swan last night and it was pretty good. I would recommend to watch it in the theaters, especially if you are a fan of Aronofsky. It felt a little like The Wrestler, except for the surreal parts of the movie of course. Natalie Portman does an amazing job in this film, probably the best performance I have ever seen by her. I wouldn't be surprised if she would get nominated for an Oscar. Although not my favorite by Aronofsky, I still enjoyed it.
That is so lame. I'm tired of how lazy everyone is getting. Everything seems to be a sequel or a remake anymore.
Why would you call it lazy? Would you say the same about a movie that is based off of a novel, a true event, a comic book, a person, etc.? It's not lazy, it just lacks originality. And it's very difficult to find it in movies these days anyways. Besides there have been remakes that I really enjoyed, and sometimes I even liked the remakes even more than the original. I'm sure the new True Grit will at least be decent, and i'll go out on a limb and say it'll probably be more entertaining than the original. I like most of what the Cohen brothers do, they rarely disappoint me.
Those situations are different because they are not a motion picture already. Time must be taken to write a script that will stay true to whatever the topic is, which most of the time they seem to fail on anyway. Taking a perfectly good movie and redoing it because you're to lazy to come up with your own story is... lazy. I am also a Cohen Brothers fan and will probably give the movie a chance. But at the end of the day my loyalty lies with John Wayne and the original True Grit.
Ah Prophecy one of John Frankenheimer's lesser films.Its not as good as I remembered it back when I watched it at a drive-in but still has its moments.The "sleeping bag" death is one of my favorite kills in film.
Just saw Black Swan at Arclight .... really great film .. Looking forward to The Illusionist as well ... and The Tempest ... Thought about seeing Tiny Furniture, but will probably just wait for the dvd ..
Yep, not really a remake. And even if you think that some classics shouldn't be remade (as I do,) I trust the Coen bros. to bring their own scathingly dark sensibility to pretty much anything they do, which seems appropriate for the source material here. Seriously looking forward to it.
