Yeah Ive got to think that Mandrake has a commercial mail account, as do most "middle men". Celga stated that they have one so you could always go that route.
And they need the SS# of the recipient. Welcome to the United police states folks. Fux the little guy.
Interesting. If you go on EMS website and ask for rates/shipping times for a package weighing 600grams from Japan to California, it says 1860Y/3 days. Not no shipping to US. You would think they would have updated that by now if there was a planned suspension. And then there is this: http://www.post.japanpost.jp/int/information/index_en.html No mention of suspending shipping to US.
Melek_Taus, check out Page 2. Baikin actually went to the post office and they told him he couldnt post anything more than 1lb to the States , whether it be SAL or EMS.
I asked Mandarake and they told me the influence of the event seems to have disappeared and that they can safely send my package out. I mean I was quoted for 500 grams so I guess we'll have to wait and see. It's in the posting/collection stage. EDIT: I searched and found this on another forum (animesuki), from Hobby Link Japan: Hi Thanks for writing. We have received notification from the post office about this, and it appears to be true. However, companies like ours, with long-term contracts with Japan Post, are not affected. It will mainly hit small companies and individuals. Our shipments will continue as usual. Thanks for shopping with HobbyLink Japan! --- Jon Parker HLJ Customer Service http://www.hlj.com So there we have it guys! This restriction seems to be mainly about individuals, such as very small businesses or Yahoo Japan Sellers (which actually never shipped direct overseas anyhow!). Basically if you're going to a Japan Post counter and trying to ship something over a pound. Larger companies with long standing Japan Post contracts don't seem to be affected. My only question now is the 3rd party middlemen. They have to be taking in on the chin. Whoops EDIT 2: From Celga: We want to assure everyone that we are specially contracted with the JPPS as a 'reliable shipper' and these restrictions do not affect us at all. ^^ So, please don't worry! Packages to the US will continue to go out as they have before. ^^
Yep. My rep in Japan shipped a BIG box to me yesterday. According to tracking, the package is in transit to the US and should be here tomorrow. I will be interested to see if it stays in customs longer than usual.
"FedEx raises full-year outlook on record holiday volume - shares gain" http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE6 ... st=Twitter Well now, there's a turnup for the books ...
Too bad Fed Ex and UPS suck ass compared to EMS, I knew the deal was all about dollars and cents for US based companies. No believes this terrorist BS excuse anymore....at least thinking people don't.
You know what is depressing about all of these “end of year” reports? They are all hyper about how things are looking up! But it’s the same exact thing with the unemployment rate going down when the U.S. Census happened. No shit there’s going to be a spike in business during the holidays! That always happens no matter what! But I don’t know about anyone else, but this holiday season still stinks compared to 2009, 2008 and before that.
