So lately I've been getting some bigger and bigger headers and my old method of storing them in comic book storage ain't working anymore, so I'm curious to see who is doing what when it comes to storing their header cards. I've been considering maybe something like archival 3-hole magazine sleeves (if they even exist....) and a 3-ring binder. Would be cool to just flip through headers to toys and takes up less space.
I'm so glad that you asked this! I keep thinking that I would love to put them in some kind of mylar sheet in a binder like you put trading cards in.
@eckotyper made binders. Maybe he can share his photos here. I would link the photo, but it's on IG and I no longer have the app
I am outing myself as an [even bigger] nerd here no doubt, but back in ye not so olden days, when 'wide-vision' cards became a thing, Ultra Pro made some of the typical storage sleeves that fit them in their Premium line, for binder storage like you mentioned. This will only work for smaller headers (e.g. mini figs, Butanohana, etc.) but is an option for saving and displaying, if that is your thing. They also did some individual sleeves as well. (I mentioned these because you can still find them for sale, else the discussion would be moot.)
I use these zip lock bags that I got from uline. They are much heavier duty than whatever you could get at a grocery store and they fit most headers. They come in various sizes too.
They do have binders with entire sticky pages that you pull back a film and can place anywhere on the page then reseal. That could hold a couple or so large headers per page. I had one as a kid and didn't know if they still made them. Something like this maybe but I can't see inside to see if it's exactly what I'm talking about but it says it has sticky pages to reposition anyway you like. https://www.michaels.com/recollections-magnetic-photo-album/10247928.html
I would not recommend anything that has sticky bits, having a bunch of those kinds photo albums from when I was a kid I can tell you over time those photos will permanently stick and discolour the header as the sticky stuff gets yellow and bonds with the header.
i have a bin liner that i've been throwing all my bags and headers in . . . completely irresponsible, i know.
@ultrakaiju That's almost exactly what I was hoping for. I just wish that they made ones with 3-4 horizontal slots, as that would be ideal for this hobby. @decypher @scobot Yeah, those were my first thought years ago, but I nixed that idea just for the reason Scobot gave. @The Moog Bin liners?! The man who pioneered some of our best scan archive threads is holding his header collection in a trash bag?
i can post pics later. basically got a photo album, and sleeves for it used heavy duty paper for the sleeves, and there is 3 papers per sleeve... 1 for the front page, one in the middle to add extra firmness, and one for the back page... use photo corners for 2-4 of the corners... corners come in black and clear, i used a mixture of both. and sat there and just posted them on the sheets with the corners how i felt, stuffed them in the sleeves, and in the binders.
OMG! Thank you @Patrickg2k Currency/coupon sleeve pages are exactly what I wanted. The hard part is not knowing what these kind of things might be called so that you can look for them.
