Aphex Twin Selected Ambient Works Vol. 2 is good . . . . . Vol. 1 is one of my favourite albums of all time!
I don't own Vol. 1, I wish I did but I've been spoiled with free music my whole life and toys take up too much of my money. I guess I could Audio Hijack them
Volume one is amazing - and one of the first electronic music cds I ever bought. Try Xtal (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0q1gCsZykg), crank it up, and you'll go buy the album right away. My SOTD: Machine Gun TV - I Know - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dE_K1Xw08ow Because that's pretty much what brought me to Japan and changed my life in the first place.
Ironically Xtal IS the only track I own off that LP. In my iTunes it comes right after the last track on Vol.2, which is probably why I want Vol. 1 It is good.
Aphex Twin rules! My SOTD is "Sleep" by HOAX. Easily one of the best hardcore bands out there these days in my opinion. http://youtu.be/kA_NEkvzEVA?t=3m28s
i unearthed this song on my computer from a year ago- give it a goofy listen https://soundcloud.com/spacevampire (its a cover of billy idol)
Can't stop listening to very very early demos (1991) of Brian Jonestown Massacre. From Pol Pot's Pleasure Penthouse: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2wYN88mrJSg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z62LoOk6BFo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQ5KUIV_cQY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTMmmVLlOc8
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrwMMF2QS14 Saddened, but well it was a good run. Now I'm interested in the music that they each will make now.
The next The Knife single "A Tooth For An Eye" leaked today, happy to hear their signature steel drums again.
Netsky- Detonate http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KioPbPb2AcM This bass line rips! Good music to get shit done to.
Citizens Arrest - In The Distance From one of my favorite hardcore 7 inches of all time 'A Light In The Darkness' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HjU0PiHDzn0
Chemical Brothers Live at the Social Volume 1- technically a mix but what a fucking mix! Doin' It After Dark, Know the Ledge, Mighty Hard Rocker, Packet of Peace, Cutman by Meat Beat Manifesto.....list goes on.
I'm sure I've posted this before but what the hell this track is so epic with the James Bond "You Only Live Twice" string samples:
This album was the soundtrack to my high school days. I love this track, and yes those strings make it epic! Here is another one form high school http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYXmJqjYQz0
