Working out details on a new figure, and I was wondering what opinion you guys may have on this. I'm torn, should a sitting kaiju figure have flat, smooth feet, like the toy it's modeled on? Or should they be bumpy and scarred, like real feety bottoms would be. The flat smooth says "look, I'm a toy, only a sitting version" while the more realistic scarred, bumpy feet says "look, I'm a hyper-realistic version of an imaginary monster". I think I just answered my own question.... sorry I can't post pics.
Actually, if it sits and has no moving parts, it's more of a sculpture or figurine than a toy... If it does have moving parts, among which legs, then it would make sense to have them flat (though if it stands straight anyhow, why not have them texttured?).
I would say detail the heck out of them and if there is articulation to make it stand just make sure the details are level and it should still stand, and if he can stand and has footy details you could use him to make footprints in the mud or snow
And articulated figures that can sit should definitely have diagonal joints so their legs can go out spread eagle style. It looks so cute when Bosses or Nags sit!!
