this guy is one of my favorite new artists of the year and i am so looking forward to what he does next!
Beautiful Gaezal there! I can't believe you managed to land one of those. Can't wait for the standard-size Mightin.
glad to see there are so many kobo supporters......can't wait for the minis to drop! yeah the top dude is an edition of 5, mostly fushcia on clear orange vinyl, anyone got the first release of the guy in the 4th picture down? can't remmeber his name but would love the other release of this dude. thx!
Yeah, one of 3 special Gaezal colorways, with only 5 pieces of each colorway. Sold out instantly all around. The 4th guy down is Garumega. First version:
Definitely my favorite to company right now. They have a very refreshing style to them. I have to pick up one of those Dagigon(guy in the last pic). Great pics!
Stealthtank and I recently had a chance to meet the entire Shikaruna "team", and I mean team, last week in Tokyo at their nostalgia shop, situated right below their house (!). Its a trio of father, mother and daughter...all doing the painting too. After hitting the much vaunted Characters near Koiwa station, the store clerk spotted Stealth's Gargamel Zag key chain hanging off his back pack, and proceeded to offer us a hand drawn map to see the creators of the Shikaruna version of the Zag first hand. We arrived to the front of the unassuming shop, only to find them handpainting Super Festival goodies (which is about to kick off as I write this...), RIGHT in the little front porch/alcove front of the shop, airbrush and all. Some of the pics you posted at the top of the thread were figures painted in similar fashion, but there were also one-off test shots which were gorgeous too. We had my buddy Jun with us to help translate, and they told us how excited they were for the minis to drop especially. We were actually gifted some unpainted mini grey vinly too!! This was one of the coolest, live-and-in-progress patchi kaiju moments of the trip. The clay models were also on display in the shop. Awesome!
That is an awesome story- like a treasure hunt. You have my envy. I would love to visit those kinds of places one day when I have the time.
WOW! Amazing story logang. What grey vinyl did you get? I'd love to have wondered into that. Cool, i have the first Garumega. Does anyone have the fuscia version of him? Only seen the picture on their website.
wow, logang, that is so awesome! and unpainted minis? score! how old is the daughter, if you dont mind me asking?
Wow, they really nailed it with that new colorway on the Gaezal, shame it is such a small edition. I remember seeing some unpainted clear orange on YJA, but didn't realize that was the base for those guys the first time I saw them through all the paint. I just got the GID version (thanks Miami) last week and am really in love with it. Thank you for the great shots of these guys, some of them I had only ever seen bagged before.
