The strength and dignity you showed in the face of death so many times never leaves my thoughts.

Your voice was magical and I am greatful to have heard it at all. Sincere condolences to her family.

Agreed Kichigai. I have been a long time fan of Sharon, Got to see her live a few times, man she put on a stunner of a live show.

It always pissed me off the likes of Amy Winehouse reached super stardom with her mostly shallow and crappy lyrics,...while Sharon toiled on the road for years kicking ass, giving people better music and incredible live shows. I bet it pissed Sharon off too, but she just kept on kicking ass anyway.

RIP Sharon. Gone but not forgotten!

Sad news. I had posted this earlier in the SOTD thread, but it deserves to be here now.

Seriously, fuck all this shit. :( Sometimes you just want to give up.
Soul songstress Sharon Jones dead at 60

Such an underrated talent, Ms. Jones and the Dap-Kings contributed a wonderful thing to this world with their funk and R&B revivalist tones. I don't even thing most people would have recognised the name, though many would have undoubtedly heard her music, and fewer still would even know that this was a contemporary effort. Featured on many great soundtracks, including recently in the Luke Cage series. Some truly phenomenal stuff, and a great talent taken from this world far too early. Another sad loss to cancer, in a year that has been rough already. May she RIP.

Thank you for your gift. You will be missed.

A sad day indeed. We've been losing so many musical luminaries recently including Leonard, Leon, and now Sharon.

She was a trouper indeed, even played the Midwest several times. Saw her at the fairgrounds and got an autographed cd. Her surviving band and production house mates are excellent too. Hope that they survive, great horns, great rhythm.
