S7 Having a booth at Wondercon this year?

Bay Area Brainers gonna play hooky on Friday? If there's enough of us, I'll do it. Just name a time and where we're going to meet up. Rotofugi will be at the Con. Hopefully with S7 and Roto, it will start to make the Con more interesting and grow even bigger, and bring in more toy stores to the Con every year. I know Robin from Heroes Club / Art of Toys will be there as well.

 

I might go on Saturday. Can't get out of work on Friday.

 

i'm going at noon to pick up the Hedo, than I have to run out for a meeting, but will be back at around 4pm.

Favorite memories of Wondercon last year:

Josh trying to explain RxH Chaos to a couple of young women who kept asking "but what is it supposed to be?" no matter what Josh said.

S7 pink Hawaii mini-Damnedron and the realization that it's not always easier for folks in Japan to get Japanese-made toys.

Peter Mayhew aka Chewbacca muttering obscenities under his breath to his lady friend about the silly Star Wars fans who didn't want to pay for his autograph.

The kid who played young Boba Fett complaining about how he wasn't getting as many dates now that he was older and women didn't recognize him any more.

Obscure Star Trek guest stars literally falling asleep at their autograph tables because nobody cared.

Learning that my MIB complete original Watchmen collection was basically worthless because everyone's got one and is hanging on to them until after the movie comes out.

Pretty darned good cosplayers. Men completely covered in garb. Women not so completely covered.

 

So how DID he try to explain what they were supposed to be?

Sometimes you just wish all of them were completely covered... and not standing in the same elevator as you.

 

How about the short 300lb dude in the slave leia costume?!
My eyeballs puked a little, but he seemed like a funny guy.

 

I don't remember his exact words but it was basically something like "collectable figures from an artist's science fiction universe" whereas the girls wanted to know what the Chaos character was, as in "a foe of Godzilla and Hello Kitty" or something literal like that. He was basically answering the version of the question that made more sense. They weren't getting it, not Josh's fault.

Oh man I missed that! Yeah, he's gotta have a good sense of humor. Funny, at the Trade Fest this past weekend locomoco explained that the cosplay girls aren't always girls. I do remember seeing a female Darth Vader once but somehow the costume ended up looking more like Elvira.

Well, he's getting older... his memory probably isn't what it used to be like it was a few days ago...
