What's up fellas? I just published this over at that other website. Thought it might be of interest to some here: http://toyboxdx.com/brog/?p=3020
Beautiful, reminds me how bad I wish I had one. I really wish Uni-Five would reissue some more jumbos.
Thanks for posting this Eric...great story! Shows just what you can do if you are determined and creative. I am seriously impressed by the way Mike made this replica!!! Totally frikkin amazing!!!
Mi Totally!! Mike's attention to every detail is just incredible. I can't believe he pulled this off. Cheers to him!! E Just to clarify, I only posted this for Mike on TBDX in our Brog section, this is all 100% him.
That is one of the coolest and most inspirational posts I've read in a long time. Congrats on getting this put together. It looks amazing!
Thanks for re-posting this, Erik. Saves me the trouble having to resurrect the Saito thread. Not that looking at those pictures again would hurt anyone... Now that the cat's outta the bag, I can openly say how funny I thought it was that the guy who did this was actually pictured right in the thread all along..
Actually, if you're gonna own a U5 Garada, the black one is probably the one to get. Although it's neither anime nor toy accurate... it just looks bad-ass.
Erik, that is damn cool. Very, very nice job. I notice the final model has rivets (or holes approximating rivets). Did you add those via displacement in Maya prior to milling or was that hand-done to the final physical model? -- jJ
holy shit, that's so awesome...!!! love all the time and determination it took to get this killer project finished... congrats...!!!
This project turned out top notch! I have never seen this Machinder before. Going to do some digging in the vintage section.
fantastic write up and insperational tale of someone who is truely dedicated. god that toy is amazing .
