Fuck Toby Maguire! Whining about having to do another Spiderman movie, but then hopping on the "next Transformers" movie and saying shit like "There is a rich mythology that will be a great foundation for a sophisticated, smart and entertaining film." Sure, true - but so does Spiderman. I really don't see the difference when it comes to acting/film-making between Spiderman and Robotech.
It bugs me too. I hate when actors don't wanna be type cast after taking superhero roles. Just shut up, be a good actor, take other roles and prove yourself NO PROBLEM. I remember reading an interview with Bale about Batman where he said he wasn't afraid of being typecast and wants to play Batman for as long as they'll let them.
That's awesome! Best Batman so far. And just a good actor all around - The Machinist kinda blew me away.
Well, to be fair, he's going to be taking a producer role for this one, and may not even act in it. He probably had little to no creative control in the Spider-Man movies and is probably looking forward to doing so with this. If it ever happens. Let's see where this is in a couple of years.
while i should be excited about a robotech movie the fact that Toby Maguire is involed i have major reservations about the movie. unfortunatly for him is a horrible actor, and that wouldn't work out well for him.
I think Toby's a good Spidey, he's a fair actor, I don't think he's BAD. I just think he's got a case of whiney actor syndrome. like he's "too good" and some super artistic being of theatrics not to be just thought of as some super hero ::scoff scoff:: I hate actors with that tude', especially when they signed on to do this stuff in the first place. But I can't complain about another giant robot movie!
my whole thing with toby as spiderman is he just comes across to "dim-witted" to be the wise cracking friendly neighborhood spiderman.
I think Maguire as an actor is pretty good, when he's in the right role. Peter Parker might have been the right role, but they were badly written and directed movies. Maguire reminds me of Taxi Driver-era DeNiro, slightly sullen and creepy. Not necessarily bad things.
Please, please, please... no Minmei! (I think it's unlikely that any Macross-related elements would be in the movie.)
This is my major issue as well. Don't fucking complain about making millions of dollars doing just because you aren't into the project anymore - it'll be over in a few months! I don't know that I respected him or what's her face, but if I did I lost a lot of it when they went on their complain compaign.
A whole movie that was filmed with one of those camera rigs strapped to Tobey's chest, like that Smashing Pumpkins video? That would be cool.
No Macross related elements? No Minmei? Why bother? Minmei was my favorite part of the show... (and the VF-1S)
You can admit this freely in mixed company? ;p Due to the licensing quagmire regarding Macross back in Japan, I think that anything any American company would produce would stay away from Macross-inspired stuff entirely. Almost everything that's come out in the last few years has been based on MOSPEADA-sourced stuff, not Macross.
I don't know why, but I can accept 50 foot tall human clones as bad guys, just not 50 foot tall human clones being defeated by pop music. ;p
