a great artist and very inspiring to me. he will be missed, i'm sure, as one of the last of the old guard.
Rauschenberg was the rare midcentury/late 20th century artist whose work almost everyone likes. So American, so "new," yet totally accessible. The word "Pop" is too confining to describe the scope of his work. He'll be fondly remembered and missed. I wish I'd saved that Talking Heads special edition LP he created for them. The design was brilliant!
