___________________________________ Another great of the comics world has left us, sadly. Carlos Sanchez Ezquerra, known for his amazing art contributions to 2000 AD, including - without much fanfare - creating the iconic image of Judge Dredd (he is listed as co-creator of the character) passed away on 1 October 2018. His work might resonate more with international fans, but I am sure, looking at some of these examples, everyone can agree to the incredible talent we have lost. RIP.
Yeah a big loss. His art had a major impact on me as a kid. I only had the pleasure of meeting him once and he was a really lovely guy. Such a shame.
Rest in Peace, man. I grew up reading 2000ad and the guy is a legend. He has to be my favourite 2000ad artist of all time, next to Bolland. His work on Dredd and Strontium Dog will forever be ingrained on my brain. My favourite story of his is The Apocalypse War, its a much darker and violent 2000ad story than the usual. His more recent work on Preacher was great too. I bought this book a few months ago and have yet to start reading it. I'm sure it contains many anecdotes about Carlos.
HUGE bummer! I first saw his art on that STAINLESS STEEL RAT adaptation and later really dug his American work with Garth Ennis. Wasn't until after college I started going back and reading the old 2000 AD stuff. THE APOCAPLYPSE WAR is such hardcore stuff!!
