^I find the red & green tin knight charming. That's a comically tiny shield, though.
The DY Jupiter looks bigger than the G.I. Joe Aircraft Carrier playset!

And don't get me started on Rock Lords. They have to go through life deciding with each passing moment whether they want to be an awesome robot or... a rock.

Haha, i'd never seen a Rock Lord before until recently . . . i saw one in a vintage market on a shelf with a bunch of Star Wars toys
and Takara transformers. It looked really cool but they wanted too much for it.

I've never actually seen one in real life, but i guess I learned about them on the internet a few years ago. Personally, I think they're great, but I can't really imagine that a kid would find a robot that turned into a rock all that cool. A real oddity.

Well. I would of enjoyed the rock formation because it would of been more streamlined to throw at my younger brother's heads when they annoyed me!

I guess I've been underselling the usefulness of rocks

Also, Pet Rocks were a big thing in the 70s, so I guess maybe they figured "rock + robot = license to print money".

OK, (clearly) not a Japanese ad, but I thought it was pretty intense. The actual gun looks quite a bit lamer than the one shown (which is already pretty lame). Gotta wonder if "Fires Harmless Invisible Blast" is ad man doublespeak for "doesn't actually do jack squat". I'm putting it in spoilers so it doesn't sully your Japanese superior toy awesomeness.

You find the best adverts, @The Moog . So many dang memories.

Ahhh, the Rock Lords. I had just a handful, but I would've loved the lot; they were like pet rocks if pet rocks could turn into awesome robotic monsters. Ha, and @Odibex , the purpose for transforming into boulders was for camo (Masters of the Universe did something similar around the same time with the Rock Warriors). Although I used their rock morphing ability to roll down surfaces and ambush other toys.

One of the larger monsters I always searched for was Fossil Lord. Never could find him though.

There were also the Narlies (the local wildlife), but one of the coolest sub-groups in the Rock Lords universe were the Jewel Lords! Flamestone was my favorite (named Rubyman in Japan).

I just found out that there was a Rock Lords animated movie! Youtube make me proud.

Damn, everything in that post was great. If I had mad moolah, I'd track down all of them, no matter the cost. Glad I could remind you of some awesome toys from your past . . . .

    Ha, me too!

They're on my To Find list now :D

Tho I'm sad to say that YouTube doesn't have the RL movie. I'm going to end up buying it on vhs I bet.

OK, that makes a little more sense. But, still, characters 'hiding' motionless as rocks doesn't seem like it would make the most exciting playtime scenarios. But, I do congratulate young you for finding ways to make it work. I still wonder what the execs who greenlighted the whole thing were thinking.
